Students' Saturday at UVT
The Western University of Timișoara launched the program "Students' Saturday at UVT” which consists in the unfolding of activities at the university headquarters with secondary school students with good educational results, but come from vulnerable social categories.
The selected students will participate in various weekly activities, such as: socializing activities, sports activities, artistic activities, computer science, geography, etc. These activities are organized with the voluntary involvement of the teaching staff of the West University of Timisoara and students from different faculties.
The purpose of the program is to cultivate the motivation to access higher education among students from vulnerable social categories and support them in educational and social integration, by developing new knowledge, skills and abilities in a non-formal and pleasant way.
The program is funded in partnership with AKADEMISCHE PATENSCHAFTEN e. V. ACADEMIC FUNDRAISING, non-governmental organization from Germany, which has undertaken the sponsorship of actions within the program for a period of 5 years.
The activities take place on Saturdays, and the selection of students to participate in these activities is carried out at the level of school institutions, the criteria being the following:
– groups of 20 students;
– selected students must have good school results and come from disadvantaged families;
– transportation on the day of the appointment to UVT and back must be provided by the school.
