Facilities for students with outstanding results
West University of Timișoara (UVT) appreciates the students who have achieved outstanding results in various national and international competitions and Olympics during high school and has prepared special admission conditions and benefit packages for those who choose to pursue university studies at UVT, as follows:
- students who obtained distinctions during their high school studies (prizes I, II, III) the international school olympiads recognized by the Ministry of Education and Research and/or first prize at national olympiads, funded by the Ministry of Education and Research – they benefit from the right to enroll in UVT undergraduate university study programs without taking the admission competition, on places funded from the state budget (admission without taking the admissions exam may be conditional on obtaining the distinctions mentioned in certain areas, corresponding or related to the one the candidate opts for in the admission process, these details being mentioned, if applicable, in the faculties' own regulations);
- students who obtained distinctions during high school school Olympics and / or other national or international competitions - they are free to enroll in the admission process and will be admitted based on the special conditions regarding admission established by the regulations of each faculty;
- students who have the status of heads of promotion from the partner high schools UVT or who have obtained average 10 at the baccalaureate exam (based on the invitation letter signed by the university rector, a letter that must accompany the candidate's file) – they benefit from free registration for the admission process and access to places without a fee;
- this type of candidates support admission tests specific to the undergraduate university study program(s), with EXCEPT the situation in which they obtained distinctions in national or international olympiads/competitions during their high school studies and fall into the special conditions regarding the admission process established by the regulations regarding the organization and conduct of the admission process at the level of UVT faculties;
- if this type of candidates are enrolled, following the admission competition, on a seat for a fee, they will benefit from exemption from tuition fees in the first year of studies, based on an application submitted to the Student InfoCentre by the end of the second week of the academic year at the latest; in this case, they will not pay the first installment of the tuition fee, uploading the letter received in the section dedicated to the payment of this fee on the digital admission platform, acting as a supporting document for the exemption from payment
Starting in May, the rector of UVT sends a letter of invitation to the Western University of Timișoara to those students with outstanding academic results during their high school studies, based on which they can access the benefits below. We have prepared the following package of benefits especially for you:
- access, under the specific admission conditions for each UVT faculty, on toll-free places;
- exemption from paying the fees related to the admission process at UVT (registration fee, confirmation fee);
- Start UVT scholarship, worth 600 lei/month, granted from the UVT funds, in the first year of studies, which can be combined with the performance scholarship, worth 1200 lei/month and the social scholarship, worth 1000 lei/month, under the conditions of fulfilling the criteria for granting them, according to UVT regulations;
- free accommodation in the UVT dormitories in the first year of studies;
- ensuring costs transportation and accommodation for participation with papers in national/international conferences, during the entire period of university undergraduate studies;
- special meetings with scientific personalities, cultural and sports, of national and international rank, participating in the events organized by UVT;
- free access to university sports facilities and swimming pools in Timișoara;
- free participation in the 2025 edition of the UVT Liberty Marathon*;
- free access, on request, to the performances organized by the National Theater in Timișoara, the Banatul Timișoara Philharmonic and the Romanian National Opera in Timișoara, during the first year of studies*;
- subscription to CODRU Festival 2025 and/or Flight Festival 2026.
In addition, every UVT student enjoys various facilities such as:
- free pass for the entire period of university studies at the "Eugen Todoran" Central University Library in Timișoara;
- flexibility in choosing the educational path during undergraduate university studies (the possibility to choose subjects and other didactic and research activities from other faculties);
- the possibility to access international learning and training experiences at hundreds of institutional partners from abroad and within the UNITA European university alliance;
- the possibility of carrying out specialized internships in a multitude of UVT partner institutions and organizations, both from the public and private sectors;
- public transport in the municipality of Timișoara and national rail transport with a 90% discount;
- free access to career counseling and guidance, educational counseling and counseling for personal optimization supported by specialized staff.
- access to the global wireless network EduRoam (Educational Roaming), based on the institutional e-mail address @e-uvt.ro, in all educational and accommodation spaces of the university;
- the right to benefit in each semester from two transferable study credits for the volunteering activities carried out, in addition to the mandatory credits.
* These benefits can also be retained in subsequent years of undergraduate university studies, provided that the annual ranking is in the top 10% of students in the same year and study program, according to the weighted average.
