Study fees

According to article 9, paragraph (1) of the Higher Education Law no. 199/2023, with subsequent amendments and additions, "in state higher education institutions, education is free, for the tuition figure approved annually by Government decision, and with a fee. The amount of the tuition fee is proposed by the board of administration, approved by the university senate and is brought to the knowledge of the candidates on the date of publication of the educational offer, according to the framework methodology regarding the organization of admission to undergraduate, master's and doctoral study cycles.", and paragraph (5) of the same article establishes that "higher education institutions have autonomy in determining the amount of fees".

Article 148, paragraph (3) of the Higher Education Law no. 199/2023, with subsequent amendments and additions, regulates the fact that "in the state higher education, fees can be charged for: exceeding the duration of schooling provided by law, registering for admission competitions, registration, re-registration, repeating exams, as well as other forms of verification that exceed the provisions of the study regulations. Fees can also be charged for activities not included in the study regulations, according to the methodology approved by the university senate".

Thus, in accordance with the legal provisions, the Western University of Timișoara (UVT) charges tuition fees for students who do not occupy a place financed from the state budget, as well as various others university fees, for all students, regardless of the form of funding of their studies, for the activities mentioned in article 148, paragraph (3) of the Higher Education Law no. 199/2023, with subsequent amendments and additions.

Also, students staying in the UVT dormitories pay a monthly o accommodation tax.

Study fees can be paid in several installmentsAs the study contract. Thus, in academic year 2024-2025 the installments for paying the study fee are as follows:

• for students in the first year of the bachelor's or master's degree cycle

1. 1. 1. the first installment, 30% of the study fee, is paid by 31.07.2024 for candidates admitted in the July 2024 session, respectively 17.09.2024 for candidates admitted in the September 2024 session;
      2. the second installment, 40% of the study fee, is paid by October 31, 2024;
      3. the third installment, 30% of the tuition fee value of the tuition fee amount is paid by January 15, 2025.

• for students in the II, III and IV years of the bachelor's degree cycle, respectively the second year of the master's degree cycle

1. 1. the first installment, 50% of the study fee, is paid by October 31, 2024;
   2. the second installment, 50% of the tuition fee, is paid by January 15, 2025.

The deadlines for paying university fees are set in The code of rights and obligations of the student and the Regulation regarding the professional activity of students from the undergraduate and master's degree programs of the Western University of Timișoara. Thus, the terms in force are:

• • reexamination fee - at least 2 working days before the start of the exam session in which the re-examination is requested (in the case re-registration / repetition / extension of studies, in which case the re-examination fees are paid within 5 working days from the start of the academic year)

    • By exception, in case of the B-II session for the final years, the re-examination fee can be paid up to at least two working days before the date set for taking the exam.

  • recontracting fee – the first 5 working days from the beginning of the academic year;
  • study extension fee – 48 hours after receiving notification that the charge has been set up;
  • study repetition fee – 3 working days after receiving the notification that the fee has been set up.

The accommodation fee is paid lunar, up to the 15th of the following month the one for which the payment is made, according to The rental agreement. After this date, penalties of 1% will be applied for each day of delay, calculated on the value of the debit registered up to the time of registration of the payment.
