Disability
A person's disability can be visible or invisible, permanent or temporary, physical or mental, respectively it refers to any condition that has a major impact on daily functioning and activity.
Definitions of disability
According to the World Health Organization (2001), disability is represented by any restriction or lack resulting from a deficiency, of the ability, ability, to perform an activity in the manner or at the level considered within normal limits for a human being.
At the level of the European Union, disability is considered a problem of the whole society and implies continuous adaptation in all dimensions of life for the reception and maintenance of disabled people in the dynamics of social life.

• UVT websites are created in a form that is as accessible as possible to the general public, including people with disabilities. The accessibility of the content has been optimized taking into account the WAI (Web Accessibility Initiative) standards existing at the time of publication of the site, respecting at least the requirements of level A. The XHTML and CSS codes are validated in accordance with the W3C standards (The World Wide Web Consortium) existing at the date of publication of the site and will be checked and updated periodically

People with visual impairments can access the site by installing screen reader applications, such as voice synthesis applications NonVisual Desktop Access (NVDA) or Job Access With Speech (JAWS), which can be downloaded for free from the links specified below.

The applications have both an interface and a reading robot (TTS - Text To Speech) in Romanian.
The applications are portable, therefore they do not have to be installed, but only downloaded and unzipped in a location on the computer or on a flash-drive (memory-stick) and can be used not only for this website, but for any application that runs under Windows operating system.
Instructions for use:
The application is unzipped;
The computer's audio system is turned on (speakers, headphones, etc.);
Running the main program – nvda.exe;
The program logo will appear in the Windows notification area (next to the clock);
To configure, right-click on it, then choose the options:
- Preferences – General settings, then select the desired language for the program interface; to apply the settings, the program must be restarted;
- Preferences – Voice settings, then select the desired language for the reading robot.
When you move the cursor over an area on the computer screen, the audio system will speak the name of the area, command or text.

On the main website of the university and on the websites of the faculties, there is an accessibility module that includes the following functionalities:
- Changing the contrast for the visually impaired
- Highlighting links
- Text spacing
- Stop animations
- Hiding images
- Dyslexia friendly font
- Enlarged cursor for navigation
- Adjust text spacing, alignment, and saturation
Access to these functions is easy, being available on the left side of the page, through a specific accessibility icon.
