According to the Regulation on the initiation, development, monitoring and periodic review of university programs and fields of study at the West University of Timisoara and their related curricula and Regulation regarding the organization and conduct of the Physical Education subject in the West University of Timișoara, in order to be able to complete the university undergraduate studies, every UVT student must complete discipline Physical Education for 4 semesters, in the first 2 years of studies (except for students of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport).
Discipline Physical Education it ends with a qualification-based evaluation, such as promoted/not promoted. The evaluation in this discipline is not taken into account when calculating the annual averages, but the discipline will have to be completed in order to finalize the learning path of any UVT student enrolled in the cycle of undergraduate university studies, the status of a full-time student being conditional on the promotion of the discipline Physical Education.
All activities related to the discipline Physical Education will take place in physical format, and each student can choose to take a sports discipline from a wide range of options, according to the available schedule. HERE.
Enrollment in this discipline takes place in the first 3 weeks of the semester (29 September - 17 October 2025), by presenting to the module Physical Education ales, on the day, time and place mentioned in TIMETABLE.
To pass a semester in the discipline Physical Education, students must accumulate at least 10 attendances. As an exception, students enrolled in part-time or distance learning study programs must accumulate minimum 5 attendances to pass a semester in the discipline Physical Education. Participation in the activities of this discipline will be done in sportswear, and to be considered present, students must to effectively takes part in the sports activity carried out within the didactic mode of activity.
For undergraduate university study programs organized at part-time or distance education, where the modules of Physical Education will also be able to take place in the online environment, students will receive additional information from the faculty that organizes the study program in which they are enrolled.
During the semester no transfer allowed from one sports discipline to another, but in the following semesters students can opt, if they wish, for different sports disciplines compared to the previous ones.
Students who, due to medical reasons, cannot carry out regular physical activities, can enroll in the discipline Medical gymnastics, based on a medical certificate issued by the specialist doctor, from which the diagnosis results, presented to the teaching staff of the discipline Medical gymnastics at the time of registration.
If the student suffers an injury/medical problem during the semester and can no longer participate in the activities of the sports discipline in which he was enrolled, he will be able to transfer to the discipline Medical gymnastics, with the information of the two teaching staff (the sports discipline from which the discipline is withdrawn Medical gymnastics), attendances made up to that moment being recognized.
The only categories of exempt students by completing the discipline Physical Education are:
- students who have medical problems and are hospitalized - benefits from a total frequency exemption during the hospitalization period (on the basis of supporting documents);
- students practicing high performance sports - benefit from a total frequency exemption during the period in which they are summoned to the national teams (on the basis of supporting documents).
Recontracting outstanding semesters for the discipline Physical Education
Students who have not yet passed the required number of semesters related to the discipline Physical Education can recontract this discipline, the steps being the following:
- payment of the discipline recontracting fee (100 lei for each semester that is wanted to be recovered) online, via the StudentWeb platform, no later than October 3 2025;
- enrolling in a number of modules Physical Education equal to the number of outstanding semesters they want to recover (according to the procedure explained above, in the first 3 weeks of the semester - at the latest by October 17 2025), mentioning to the teaching staff/teachers the fact that they want to recover the outstanding semester/semesters. It is not possible to enroll in several modules fromthe same sports discipline.
Students cannot pass more than two semesters related to the discipline Physical Education in one.
