Submission of applications for the positions of student representatives - academic year 2024-2025 (update 11 November 2024)

Applications submitted for student representative positions can be accessed HERE.

Between November 4 and 10, 2024, applications can be submitted for the positions of student representatives in faculty councils, doctoral school councils, the UVT Senate and the Council for University Doctoral Studies, for the 2024-2025 mandate.

If you also want to occupy one of the positions of student representatives in the previously mentioned structures and get involved in decision-making for your colleagues, you must send an e-mail to the address elegriki@osut.ro, and the e-mail must contain the following documents:

  • CV;
  • Letter of intent;
  • Declaration of political non-affiliation signed by the candidate (digitally or physically).

Faculty Council represents the decision-making and deliberative body of each faculty, where students represent at least 25% of the total members. The number of student representatives in the faculty council, depending on the faculty, is as follows:

  • Faculty of Arts and Design: 4 student representatives;
  • Faculty of Chemistry, Biology, Geography: 5 representative students;
  • Faculty of Law: 3 student representatives;
  • Faculty of Economics and Business Administration: 6 representative students;
  • Faculty of Physical Education and Sport: 3 representative students;
  • Faculty of Physics: 3 representative students;
  • Faculty of Letters, History, Philosophy and Theology: 5 representative students;
  • Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science: 4 representative students;
  • Faculty of Music and Theatre: 4 student representatives;
  • Faculty of Sociology and Psychology: 5 representative students;
  • Faculty of Government and Communication Sciences: 4 representative students.

Doctoral School Council ensures, under the coordination of its director, the operational management of the doctoral school, in accordance with the institutional regulation for the organization and conduct of university doctoral studies. Within each CSD, doctoral students are represented by at least 20% of the total number of members.

University Senate represents the university community and is the highest decision-making and deliberation body at the UVT level. Students are representatives in the UVT Senate in a proportion of at least 25% of the total members, as follows: 11 student senators representing the 11 faculties of UVT, 1 doctoral student representative from the doctoral students, 1 student representative from the Club of Elite Students (CSE- UVT), 1 student representative of Romanian students from the diaspora and international students, 1 student member of the Student Organization of the West University of Timișoara (OSUT).

Council for doctoral university studies constitutes its own and specific management and administration structure of doctoral studies and research programs, where doctoral students represent at least 25% of the total number of members.

According to the Regulations for the election of student representatives from UVT, the mandate of a student representative is 1 year, with the right to be re-elected at the end of a previous mandate. At the same time, a student cannot have the capacity of student representative in decision-making structures (faculty council, university senate, board of administration) of the same higher education institution for more than 5 years, regardless of the period in which the mandates took place and their interruptions, with the exception of the mandates of representation in the Council of the Doctoral School and the Council of Doctoral University Studies, which are regulated by the charter.

For the election of student representatives, voting will take place in the following way:

  • for students who are running for the position of student representative in the faculty council, only students who are enrolled in the respective faculty will vote;
  • for students applying for the position of student representative in the doctoral school council, only doctoral students enrolled in the respective doctoral school will vote;
  • for the students who apply for the position of student representative from the faculty in the UVT Senate, only the students who are enrolled in the respective faculty will vote, and the students who apply for the other positions will be voted by all the students who fall into the respective categories;
  • for students applying for the position of student representative in the Council for Doctoral University Studies, all doctoral students enrolled in the Western University of Timișoara will vote.

The calendar for the election of student representatives in the faculty councils, the UVT Senate, the doctoral school councils and the Council for Doctoral University Studies is as follows:

As the counting of votes and the drawing up of the necessary documents will be completed around midnight, appeals will be able to be submitted throughout the entire day of November 19.

The elections on November 18 will be held in physical format, starting at 09:00 until 21:00. The ballot boxes will be located in the UVT central hall, and for faculties outside the main headquarters they will be located in their buildings as follows:

  • Faculty of Arts and Design: Str. Oituz no. 4, Timisoara;
  • Faculty of Chemistry, Biology, Geography: Str. Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi no. 16 and the head office of UVT, Bd. Vasile Pârvan no. 4;
  • Faculty of Law: UVT headquarters, Bd. Vasile Pârvan no. 4 and Str. Oituz no. 4; 
  • Faculty of Economics and Business Administration: Str. Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi no. 16 and the head office of UVT, Bd. Vasile Pârvan no. 4;
