According to the Decision of the Government of Romania no. 811 of September 8, 2023 for the approval of the Methodological Norms regarding the granting of internal railway and metro transport facilities for pupils and students, students enrolled in higher education institutions in Romania, in university study programs at form of frequent education, regardless of nationality, aged up to 30 years ago, benefit of 90% off for domestic rail transport for all train categories, XNUMXnd class, throughout the calendar year, regardless of the distance or travel routes. Students who are orphans or come from placement centers benefits from free domestic rail transport on all train categories, XNUMXnd class. This discount is granted on the basis student ID card for discount / free transport issued by higher education institutions according to the model regulated by the Government Decision mentioned above.
For students enrolled in the 2023-2024 academic year in the first year of their bachelor's, master's or doctoral study cycles, student ID cards for rail transport can be issued from the Student Info Center after receiving them from the Ministry of Education, and then we will return with an e-mail to inform you from which date these documents will be issued.
Until November 30, 2023, for first-year undergraduate, master's and doctoral students aged up to 30, enrolled in part-time university study programs, the discount on rail transport it will also be granted on the basis of a certificate certifying student status issued by the higher education institution for the current academic year, which will temporarily replace the student ID card for rail transport, until it is issued.

Endorsement of the student ID card for rail transport (for all students, except those in the first year of studies)
Endorsement of student IDs for rail transport for the current academic year is done by presenting them at the student InfoCentre. These IDs are issued/intended only for students enrolled in a university study program at form of frequent education, aged up to 30 years ago.
On the basis of the student ID for rail transport, all students enrolled in a full-time university study program, aged up to 30 years, benefit from a 90% discount on rail transport, on all categories of trains and for all railway operators, regardless of the route they travel on the territory of Romania.
You do not have to show up in person to have your IDs endorsed - they could be collected and brought to the InfoCentru for endorsement by your group/year representative.
For students enrolled in faculties that are not based in the UVT central building (Faculty of Arts and Design, Faculty of Chemistry, Biology, Geography - Department of Biology-Chemistry, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Economics and Business Administration and Faculty of Music and Theatre), ID cards are validated at the Info Center located in the respective faculty.
Until November 30, 2023, students can benefit from the reduced fare for rail transport on the basis of their student ID card for reduced/free transport, valid for the previous academic year.
Students who were not issued IDs for rail transport in the previous university years will be able to pick up their student IDs for rail transport from the student InfoCentre, after receiving them from the Ministry of Education, and we will return with an e-mail in which we we inform from which date the transport permits will be issued.
