Starting Monday, September 11, 2023, 12:00 p.m., you have the opportunity to opt for the complementary subjects that form transversal skills that you will study in the 2023-2024 academic year by accessing the website www.dct.uvt.ro.
We invite you consult the offer of complementary subjects that form transversal skills for the next academic year, published on the website www.dct.uvt.ro, reading subject descriptions, subject sheets (where you will find details about their content, teaching methods, required bibliography or evaluation methods), but also the CVs of the teaching staff of the subjects.
Enrollment in complementary subjects which form transversal skills is done on a "first-come-first-served" basis, each discipline having a maximum number of participants, mentioned in the presentation of the subjects on the website www.dct.uvt.ro, so we recommend that you choose to enroll in these subjects as soon as possible, in order to benefit from all the available options. Once a subject reaches the maximum number of registered participants, it will no longer be available to be selected by other students.
Students who will study in the following academic year in year 2 of the cycle of undergraduate university studies must be completed in year 2, semester 1:
- a complementary discipline which form transversal skills, chosen through the platform www.dct.uvt.ro, if they are enrolled in the following faculties:
- Faculty of Letters, History and Theology - Faculty of Music and Theater - Faculty of Sociology and Psychology - Faculty of Political Sciences, Philosophy and Communication Sciences
- discipline Entrepreneurship skills, if they are enrolled in the following faculties (for this discipline students of these faculties do not have to register separately, they will find it in the timetable at the beginning of the academic year):
– Faculty of Arts and Design - Faculty of Chemistry, Biology, Geography
- Law School
- Faculty of Physical Education and Sport
– Faculty of Physics
- University of mathematics and Informatics
(If the students of the faculties mentioned above wish to take a complementary course that forms transversal skills with an optional character in year 2, semester 1, they can register by sending an e-mail to dct@e-uvt.ro.)
The students of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration will study in the 2nd year, the 1st semester optional subjects within the faculty, which they will choose through the UVT e-learning platform.
In year 2, semester 2 students of all UVT faculties must complete a complementary discipline that forms transversal skills, chosen through the platform www.dct.uvt.ro.
Sstudents of all UVT faculties who will study in the following academic year year 3 of the bachelor's degree cycle must be completed a complementary discipline which form transversal skills în semester 1 of the academic year, chosen through the platform www.dct.uvt.ro.
students The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration will complete a complementary discipline that forms transversal skills and in semester 2 of year 3.

Each student will only be able to opt for complementary subjects in a field other than the one in which they are studying.
Students who will not pass and pass at least 3 disciplines complementary ones that form transversal skills during the cycle of undergraduate university studies, respectively 2 such disciplines in the case of students of the previously mentioned faculties who will complete the discipline Entrepreneurship skills compulsory in year 2, semester 1, they will not be able to complete their undergraduate studies.
In the case of students in the 3rd year of studies, it is not possible to choose a complementary subject that has already been completed in the 2nd year.
The deadline for enrollment in the complementary disciplines that form transversal skills for the academic year 2023-2024: September 18, 2023.
During the academic year nu it will still be possible to enroll in complementary subjects that form transversal skills, so it is mandatory to make the choice within the term mentioned above!
Choice of complementary subjects for students enrolled in part-time/distance learning undergraduate degree programs
Students enrolled in undergraduate degree programs at form of part-time/distance education they will be able to choose their complementary subjects to complete in the academic year 2023-2024 on the UVT e-learning platform, receiving information about the registration process in a separate email.
Choice of outstanding complementary subjects (for students who will study in year 3 in the academic year 2023-2024) - if applicable
Starting from Thursday, September 14, 2023, 12:00 p.m, and until the 1st8 September 2023, you can make choices for the outstanding complementary subjects from the previous study year, to study in the academic year 2023-2024, if you are in this situation, by accessing the website www.dct.uvt.ro and choosing the option Choose outstanding subjects.
You can opt to take one or two additional complementary subjects that form transversal skills (in addition to the compulsory complementary subjects in year 3), depending on the semester for which you have an outstanding complementary subject.
To complete an overdue complementary discipline, each student must pay online, with the card, a fee of 100 lei/discipline. This fee can be paid by 21.09.2023 at the latest, by filling in the required fields and selecting one of the types of fee 14, 15 or 16 from THIS LINK.
Other information
Those disciplines that have accumulated at least 80% of the specific minimum numerical threshold for organizing the study group will be organized (for example – minimum 20 options for a group of 25 students). Each student will opt for each semester in which they have to study a complementary subject for two options (one main and one reserve). If the discipline from the main option does not have enough participants to organize, the student will be assigned to the reserve option. If this is not organized either, he will be contacted to opt for other subjects.
Students who will not opt to complete the minimum number of complementary subjects related to their year of study they will not be randomly allocated to any discipline, so they will remain with the outstanding complementary discipline/disciplines, having to complete them in the following academic year, with a fee, and will not have the right to complete their undergraduate university studies until they have studied and passed the minimum required number of complementary disciplines according to the educational plan of the bachelor's degree program in which they are enrolled.
About the complementary disciplines that form transversal skills
West University of Timișoara (UVT) and assumes, by University charter, mission de "initial and continuous training, at university level, for the purpose of personal development, the professional insertion of the individual and the satisfaction of the skills needs of the socio-economic environment", proposing to be a "catalyst for the development of Romanian society by creating an innovative and participatory environment for scientific research, learning, cultural-artistic creation and sports performance, transferring skills and knowledge to the community". Thus, among UVT objectives include:
– the development of critical thinking and the creative potential of members of the university community;
– the creation, hoarding and spreading of the values of human culture and civilization;
– promoting multicultural, plurilinguistic and interfaith interference;
- the affirmation of Romanian culture and science in the world circuit of values;
- the development of Romanian society within a free and democratic state of law.
To fulfill its mission, UVT implemented, among others, the complementary disciplines that aim at the formation of transversal skills, other than those aimed at the formation of explicit professional skills.
Transversal competences represent value acquisitions and attitudes that go beyond a certain field / study program and are expressed through the following descriptors: autonomy and responsibility, social interaction, personal and professional development. These, without the enumeration being limiting, ensure: teamwork skills, oral and written communication skills in the native / foreign language; reasoning / argumentation and critical thinking skills; the use of information and communication technology - ICT; problem solving and decision making; recognition and respect for diversity and multiculturalism; learning autonomy; initiative and entrepreneurial spirit; openness to lifelong learning; respecting and developing professional values and ethics; skills to operate in an interdisciplinary manner with methodologies and concepts coming from the field of exact sciences, socio-human sciences and artistic creation, etc.
