The results of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for the year 2024 place the Western University of Timisoara among the 22 top institutions in the country (7th place, along with other universities in Romania) and among the 1201-1500 universities worldwide. Unlike last year, UVT advanced to the top, from the category 1500+ to the category 1201-1500 universities, which indicates the positive evolution of the largest Timisoara university.
The ranking made by the British magazine Times Higher Education (THE) is one of the nine most prestigious rankings used in the analysis of the national Metaranking - the ranking of universities in Romania. The THE ranking is one of the oldest internationally, having been in the profile circuit since 2004, and focuses on academic excellence on a global scale, evaluating universities in terms of the following five dimensions: teaching activity (29,5%), activity of research (29%), research quality (30%), industry (4%) and international perspective (7,5%). Of these, UVT achieved the best results in terms of research quality and international perspective, in line with UVT's European scope and ambition to be the most important university in the west of the country.
