Timisoara is a city of freedom and courage, and the West University of Timisoara represents a conducive space for dialogue and analysis, for all important topics of the public agenda. Timisoara has become "home" for many citizens of the Republic of Moldova, which is why the Faculty of Governance and Communication Sciences considers it useful to organize, on September 9, 2025, a round table during which a dialogue will be held about the pro-European path of the Republic of Moldova, about the upcoming elections and about the challenges of the future.

While the area of ​​the Republic of Moldova has been recalibrated from a geopolitical perspective, we observe a particular interest from both the European Union and the Russian Federation, a state that wants to preserve its influence, if not even increase it. We observe maneuvers and elements of hybrid warfare, in Romania or Poland, for example, while evidence also appears in relation to activities such as the destabilization of socio-political life in the Republic of Moldova. All these new elements of geopolitical dynamics deserve to be debated and placed in a coherent and clarifying framework of analysis.

Special guests of the event are: Marilen Gabriel Pirtea, rector of the West University of Timisoara, Igor Șarov, rector of the State University of Moldova, Iulian Chifu, foreign policy expert and analyst, and Alexandru Bălan, security expert. The event is moderated by Alexandru Jădăneanț, dean of the Faculty of Governance and Communication Sciences.

The roundtable will take place on Tuesday, 09.09.2025 at 10:30 in the Auditorium of the Institute for Advanced Environmental Research (ICAM – UVT) within the West University of Timișoara (Oituz no. 4, Timișoara).
