Between September 1-4, 2025, the West University of Timișoara, Faculty of Informatics, Department of Research, Development and Innovation, in collaboration with the CSH robotics team of the “Carmen Sylva” National Pedagogical College, is organizing the seventh edition of the “Open Robotics Intelligent Grid” camp. The event brings together 29 robotics teams from Romania and the Republic of Moldova, who will demonstrate their creativity and technical skills. The main challenge within the “Open Robotics Intelligent Grid” 2025 is to build a robot from scratch on the game theme revealed on the first day of the event. During the camp, participants will also take part in surprise activities and workshops in the STEAM fields.
On Monday, September 1, starting at 10:30, the official opening ceremony will take place in the Aula Magna UVT, during which the theme of the competition will be revealed, created by the CSH team in collaboration with representatives of the Smart::Bits team and the West University of Timisoara. In the next 72 hours after the opening, approximately 250 robotics enthusiasts will fill the halls of the West University of Timisoara, days in which innovation and teamwork will give life to spectacular ideas and transform passion into performance, this edition being under the generic "Whispered secrets hide beneath the shifting sands".
UVT rector, Marilen Gabriel Pirtea: "The robotics competitions at UVT have become a gateway to the world of technology and creative play, both for young high school students and for students and their mentors, within the UVT academic community. The robotics event "Open Robotics Intelligent Grid" has become a tradition and has established itself in the annual robotics calendar in Romania as one of the most prestigious and attractive competitions, in which robotics teams show their creativity and adopt constructive solutions full of ingenuity. We look forward to participating in this robotics festival, alongside teams from all over the country."
On Thursday, September 4, the final competition of the "Open Robotics Intelligent Grid" 2025 will take place at Iulius Mall. The public will be able to watch demonstration matches between robots built in just three days. Each match will be played with four robots on the field, performing various tasks to accumulate points. In addition to the awards for the technical performance of the robots, the teams will also be able to win special prizes, awarded by the "FIRST Tech Challenge" jury, who will evaluate the creativity, strategy and design of the robots.
