The Western University of Timișoara ran from June 24, 2019 to June 23, 2021, in partnership with "Lucian Blaga" University from Sibiu, the project - "Access and equity in universities. Innovative entrepreneurial approaches for students and teachers", POCU/ 379/6/21/124874.
The project is co-financed from the European Social Fund through the Human Capital Operational Program 2014-2020, Component 379 Student Entrepreneur Scholarship - Active measure to increase the participation of students from vulnerable categories in undergraduate study programs - Less developed regions, Priority Axis 6 Education and competent, OS composite operation. 6.7, 6.9, 6.10. The duration of the project was 24 months, and the value of the project was 6.673.605,90 lei
The general objective of the project was to increase the quality, efficiency and access to higher education, in correlation with the needs of the labor market in the economic sectors, through the development of an integrated program of innovative and attractive educational offers, modern and flexible learning resources, the improvement of teaching staff and supporting students from vulnerable groups.
The main benefits that this project has provided are:
- Open addressability for 453 students, of which 364 students from vulnerable groups, participants in professional counseling and career guidance services;
- The proposal for incentives in a monthly lump sum amounting to a maximum of 300 lei/month, during the last 3 semesters of undergraduate studies for 341 students from the two partner universities;
- The improvement of 88 teaching staff from the two universities through a training program dedicated to university teaching staff;
- National best practices exchange internships for 20 teaching staff;
- Tutoring sessions for 320 students;
- Academic counseling (individual and group) for 453 students;
- Student participation in Advanced Entrepreneurial Skills, Environmental Justice and Workplace Wellbeing study offerings.
- Elaboration of 341 post-study business/sustainability plans in the field of undergraduate studies made by beneficiaries of student entrepreneur scholarships.
The following categories of people have benefited from the benefits of the project:
a) students from tertiary education, especially those from vulnerable groups, with an emphasis on the Roma population, those from rural areas and non-traditional students, from partner universities;
b) teaching staff from higher education and staff involved in the development of study programs from tertiary university education, within the partner universities;
c) high school students from the counties where the project will be implemented, located in 3 less developed regions of Romania.
