The Western University of Timișoara is present in the RUR Subject Rankings, 2021 edition, in the field of Life Sciences (biology, bioinformatics), occupying the 3rd place in the country, after the results obtained on the Research Ranking and Financial Sustainability Ranking components, respectively the 4th position on the Teaching and International Diversity Ranking components.
The Round University Subject Rankings is based on the information used to generate the general Round University Ranking and measures the performance of universities based on 20 performance indicators grouped into 4 indicator categories: teaching (40%), research (40%), international diversity (10%) and financial sustainability (10%) and 6 fields of study: humanities, life sciences, natural sciences, technical sciences, social sciences and medical sciences.
It is confirmed that UVT's positioning is above average in the fields of: Natural Sciences (first place at the national level in the Research Ranking of this field, with the 2nd place at the national level, and at the world level it ranks 376 out of 700 universities in this field) and Sciences technical (first place at the national level in the Research Ranking of this field, with the 5th place at the national level, and at the world level UVT occupies the position 671 out of 700 universities in this field).

The world top Round University Ranking, published since 2013 by the RUR Rankings Agency in Moscow, resulted from the analysis of the information provided by the universities by completing the platform of the Global Institutional Profiles Project (GIPP) study developed by Clarivate Analytics, of the bibliometric / scientometric data extracted from the databases of data Web of Science Core Collection, Scopus, Google Scholar, etc. and by interpreting the academic reputation study conducted by the Global Institutional Profiles Project (GIPP).
