UVT is present in Best Global Universities in the second position at national level in the general ranking of universities. The top is made by US News & World Report from the United States of America.
The overall top includes 1750 universities from 90 countries, including 12 universities from Romania, but only five of them are located in the Top 1000 universities. UVT is ranked 2nd among the 12 Romanian universities included in the top. At the international level, UVT ranks 738 out of the total of 1750 universities ranked this year, respectively 304th among the European universities included in the top. In terms of scientific fields, the Physics field at UVT ranked best, being ranked 235th worldwide out of 750 universities that offer similar study programs.
The performance indicators taken into account in the Best Global Universities Rankings - General are: world reputation (12.5%), regional reputation (12.5%), number of scientific publications (10%), number of books (2.5%), number of conferences (2.5% ), the normalized impact of citations (10%), the total number of citations (7.5%), the number of publications found in the top 10% most cited publications (12.5%), the percentage of publications found in the top 10% most cited publications (10 %), the percentage of publications with international collaboration compared to the total per country (5%), the percentage of publications with international collaboration of the institution (5%), the number of cited works found in the top of the most cited 1% works in the reference field (5% ), the percentage of publications found in the top 1% of most cited works (5%).
Regarding the ranking of science fields, the top Best Global Universities Subject Rankings reflects the research performance of universities in 28 fields of study and is based on the analysis of bibliometric data from the period 2015-2019, extracted from the Web of Science database, a web platform that covers more than 21.300 of the most influential and important scientific journals from around world in the realms: sciences, social sciences, arts and humanities.
Best Global Universities Rankings is a classification made by US News & World Report in the USA in response to the growing desire of young Americans to enroll in study programs of universities outside the country and provides a ranking of the world's top universities in the purpose of guiding you in choosing the most suitable ones. The classification is made with the support of Clarivate Analytics and was published for the first time in 2015.
