International Autism Awareness Day, marked at UVT – "Different, not less"

The Department of Sociology within Faculty of Sociology and Social Work and student volunteers from West University of Timisoara (UVT), in partnership with the "Wings for Autism" Association, will mark the March 28 International Autism Awareness Day (April 2) through an information and awareness event held under the slogan "Different, no less".

The official opening of the event will take place in the A01 amphitheater of the West University of Timișoara, where, between 9:00 and 11:00, the public will have the opportunity to listen to interventions from specialists from the Timișoara academic community, but also from representatives of institutions or organizations in whose activity the issue of autism is a constant presence.

The ground floor lobby of the West University of Timișoara will host this day, between 11:00 and 14:00, a presentation of the offer of institutions, associations and centers in the city of Timișoara that address specific services and therapies to children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their families.

During the same time slot, the lobby will host creative workshops and activities for children, both neurotypical and atypical, in an invitation to acceptance, inclusion, solidarity, empathy and support.

Starting at 12:00, the public is invited to participate in thematic workshops on topics of interest, such as: diagnosing and screening for developmental disorders, multidisciplinary collaboration, access to support services, the different therapies used, the challenges of children, youth and adults with ASD in school, society or the labor market.

Information regarding the detailed campaign program can be accessed on the organizers' pages (Faculty of Sociology and Social Work and Instagram FSAS,   Socio Claus and Instagram Socioclaus"Wings for Autism" Association).

Public access to all activities is free.
