The West University of Timisoara ranks 2281st in the top 3000 universities in the world, a top that groups approximately the top 12% of higher education institutions in the world, but also 15th at the national level in the most recent edition of the hierarchy. URAP.
URAP is a ranking made up exclusively of scientific performance indicators, with a particular specificity, namely not taking into account the size of the university. In calculating the total score, the URAP top takes into account the data available in InCites, a Clarivate Analytics platform, regarding:
- the total number of articles – 21% (reference period 2022),
- total number of citations – 21% (reference period 2018-2022),
- total number of scientific documents (including book chapters, conference proceedings, etc.) – 10%, total impact articles – 18%, total impact citations – 15% and
- the number of international collaborations – 15%.
URAP is an international classification present since 2009 and covers approximately 3000 higher education institutions in the world, which makes this ranking one of the most comprehensive classification systems in the world, this edition also includes 19 universities from Romania. The main objective of the classification is to develop a classification system for the world's universities based on research performance, determined by the quality and quantity of scientific publications, independent of the number of employees of a university.
