The Department of Sociology within the Faculty of Sociology and Psychology, with the support of student volunteers from the Western University of Timișoara, is organizing between December 2-6, 2024 the seventh edition of the campaign "Socio Claus".
Campania Socio Claus promote through the slogan "You too can be Socio Claus!" inclusion, solidarity, acceptance, empathy and support for people with disabilities. In this sense, during the event, a Christmas market will be organized in the hall on the ground floor of the Western University of Timișoara, where children with disabilities, parents, adults with disabilities and therapists will offer for sale decorations specific to the winter holidays, made with the aim covering the costs of therapies, medicines or specific equipment, necessary for them.
An important component of the campaign is the series of Dialogues about (dis)ABILITY, hosted in the amphitheaters of the University of the West in Timișoara, which is addressed to pupils, students and the local community, where parents, people with disabilities and specialists from prominent institutions in the city Timisoara will present a complex perspective on (dis)ABILITY, in a call for understanding, equity, normality and "Together".
The campaign is also a charity event, in which a collection of donations is organized to support people with disabilities or families who take care of special children who face some needs (lack of clothes, basic food, etc.).
