UVT launches the first festival in Romania dedicated to ideas, critical thinking and authentic dialogue – "Timișoara Ideas Fest"

La West University of Timişoara, we believe that ideas can change the world. That is why we are hosting this fall Timișoara Ideas Fest, the first festival in Romania dedicated to ideas, critical thinking and authentic dialogue, an event where the stage belongs to the courage to ask, reflection and critical spirit.

Between November 10–13, 2025, "Timișoara Ideas Fest" brings together journalists, content creators, researchers, teachers and young people, in a series of events that will explore the mechanisms of manipulation, the impact of propaganda in society and the way the digital environment shapes our perception of reality.

The theme of the first edition is "Fake News", a highly topical topic in an era in which information circulates at an astonishing speed, and the boundaries between truth and perception are becoming increasingly fragile.

What awaits participants at "Timișoara Ideas Fest":

  • Conferences or dialogues held by prestigious guests: Radu Paraschivescu, Marian Voicu, Vlad Petreanu, Moise Guran, Mihai Maci and other surprise guests;
  • Exhibitions and Art Fair;
  • Painting and ceramics workshops, the "Bias Bingo: how our brain tricks us into believing fake news" workshop, the "Feed or fact? A game about truth, tricks and clicks" workshop and many others;
  • Debates in which participants will be able to interact directly with experts from various fields;
  • Musical moments and guided tours.
