According to the general classification Top World Leading Universities (RankPro) 2020-2021, the Western University of Timișoara was included in the top 1000 universities in the world, occupying position 857. In the same top, UVT is positioned among the 400 universities in Europe which were selected for this ranking, being ranked 376.
The RankPro methodology evaluates the quality of study programs offered by universities, the availability and completeness of online information on the activities of universities, their capacity and reputation at national and international level. In addition to the general classification Top World Leading Universities, RankPro generates 3 specific rankings:
- Academic Ranking (50%), which measures the academic performance of a university (among the performance indicators used we mention: the diversity of study programs; the ratio between the number of master's and doctoral students and the total number of students; the ratio between the number of foreign students and the total number of students; the ratio between the number of teachers and the total number of academic staff; the ratio between the number of teachers and the total number of students);
- Ranking by BC-Index (25%), which measures the availability of a university's information on the web page - the English version (the evaluation is carried out by means of 50 performance indicators among which we mention: general information about the universities; facilities and capacities of the campuses information about academic and research activity);
- Public ranking (25%), which measures the university's reputation at national and international level and is generated based on the results obtained by universities in national and international rankings (a study is carried out by members of the International Council of Scientists). Higher education institutions are classified into two groups: "a" and "b" with subclasses "+" and "-".
RankPro, published since 2014, is developed by the International Council of Scientists (the world organization of the most highly qualified personalities in the field of education and science), through the Global World Communicator – Education and Science program.
Along with UVT, other universities from the University Consortium are present in RankPro: "Babeş-Bolyai" University from Cluj-Napoca, University of Bucharest and "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University from Iasi.
