The Western University of Timișoara (UVT) announces the launch of the project "Sustainable Accounting, Economic, Finance and Management Education (SUSTAIN-ACE)” – ID 2024-1-RO01-KA220-HED-000255610 – an approach dedicated to education for sustainability in higher education.
In this context, we are happy to send the invitation to participate in the project launch event to all interested stakeholders in the community - representatives of the business environment, representatives of the public administration and non-governmental organizations, but also teaching staff and students - who will take place on December 12, 2024, from 10:00 a.m., la Institute for Advanced Environmental Research - ICAM, Oituz street no. 4, Timișoara, Aula ICAM (P-A102-107).
The launch event will include debates by experts in the field of education and sustainability, as well as networking opportunities among participants. Special guests from business, public administration, NGOs and representatives of higher education institutions will discuss the importance of integrating sustainability in contemporary education and the impact of this project on the academic community and the private sector.
This strategic partnership project, co-financed by the European Union and implemented together with partner universities (University of Sassari, Italy; University of Skövde, Sweden; University of Belgrade, Serbia; Vytautas Magnus University, Lithuania and SS. Cyril and Methodius University of Skopje , North Macedonia), aims to ensure the relevance and practical applicability of the knowledge acquired by students in the fields of accounting, economics, finance and management. In the context of global challenges related to climate change and sustainable economic development, the SUSTAIN-ACE project will respond to the urgent needs of university curriculum adaptation to the demands of the labor market. The project aims to develop essential skills for students, promoting an inclusive and diverse education that prepares future graduates to tackle complex sustainability issues.
The key objectives associated with the SUSTAIN-ACE project aim at:
• Collaboration with the business environment, public administration and NGOs: The project will facilitate partnerships between universities and companies, public institutions and NGOs, ensuring that students acquire the necessary skills to respond to current economic and social challenges.
• Involvement of teaching staff: Teaching staff of the partner universities will have the opportunity to participate in workshops and focus groups, with the aim of improving their teaching skills by integrating concepts related to sustainable development in the curriculum.
• Student engagement: SUSTAIN-ACE will provide students with hands-on learning opportunities through participation in real projects, thereby stimulating their commitment to sustainable education.
