The West University of Timișoara (UVT), together with the contracting company CONCELEX, inaugurated the construction site of the two new student dormitories in Ghiroda, investments of the Romanian Government made through PNRR funding.
The press conference was attended by the rector of UVT, Marilen Gabriel Pirtea, the representative of the local authority, the mayor of Ghiroda, Ionuț Stănușoiu, alongside the deputy director of CONCELEX, Cătălin Vișan, as well as representatives of the design company, Concrete & Design Solutions.
The execution period for the two dormitories is 12 months, with students of the West University of Timisoara benefiting from 324 modern accommodation places and facilities such as reading rooms, co-working spaces, multifunctional spaces for sports and recreational activities, outdoor terraces, car and bicycle parking. The total construction area, cumulated for the two projects, is over 10.500 sq m.
The participants and special guests of the inauguration event prepared a capsule with symbols and a message across time, which was embedded in the foundation of the first dormitory, as a sign of the permanence of this university building.

For those of you who will read this message in years to come, we hope that this home has been more than just a roof over your head. May it have been a laboratory of ideas, a place where you grew, loved, made mistakes, and learned. May it have been a home in the truest sense of the word — a place where you discovered who you are.
Each brick carries within it our desire to give you a good start.
With respect for the academic past of this university and with confidence in the future you will shape, this home is our gift to you, the leaders of tomorrow.
