Organized for the first time in 2016, by the "George Enescu" National University of Arts in Iași, due to the need to develop events of a competitive nature among young musicians, students of professional centers in Romania, the prestigious "Eduard Caudella" National Interpretation Competition prepared a new edition in November 2021 with the participation of performers from the whole country.
This year, the winner of the first place is the UVT student Lázár Katalin, who attends the courses of the study program "Musical Interpretation - Instruments" (flute), the class of Mr. Dr. Matei Ioachimescu.
She shone in the section dedicated to Wind Instruments in the competition, with the mastery of interpretations on her "enchanted flute", defeating all the competitors of the great National Music Universities in the country. As in art the student follows the master, Katalin came to Timișoara from her native Cluj, to study with the world-class flautist Matei Ioachimescu, teaching staff of the Faculty of Music and Theater at the West University of Timișoara.
The institutional culture promoted by the UVT community ensures a wide openness to supporting the elites, and the student Lázár Katalin had the chance, in this sense, since her first year, to play a silver flute.
"A musician cannot reach his full potential without a quality instrument. The quality of the instrument is a very important aspect, even decisive in the life of student musicians, representing an essential factor in terms of motivation, inspiration and the harmonious development of the artistic and technical side", confesses the laureate student.
Fully understanding the essential link between the quality of the instruments studied by the students of the Faculty of Music and Theater and the amplitude of the artistic performances obtained, the Western University of Timișoara is developing a plan for the acquisition of musical instruments, a component that confirms the entire academic approach of the UVT community, expressed through an already established phrase - "At UVT, Culture is Capital!".
