Stéphane Courtois, at UVT: "New totalitarianisms in the post-truth era"

What does totalitarianism mean in a world of subtle manipulation, disinformation, and "alternative truths"? How is ideology reconfigured in the post-truth era?

French historian Stéphane Courtois, one of the most influential researchers of European communism, comes to UVT for a conference-event, in a dialogue with publicist and writer Cristian Pătrășconiu.

Stéphane Courtois is the author of the volume "The Black Book of Communism", translated into over 25 languages, and of the work "Lenin, the Inventor of Totalitarianism", awarded the Grand Prize for the History Book (Le Figaro/Histoire).
His research redefined the way Europe understands totalitarian regimes and their consequences.

We invite you on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, from 18:00 PM, in the "Ioan Curea" Aula Magna of UVT, to an evening of dialogue about memory, history and the power of truth in a world that challenges it.

Admission is free, subject to availability. Please reserve a seat using the registration form available here: https://forms.gle/9Gf12kmzp7BL5V9z5

Event financed by the Municipality of Timişoara through the Project Center.
