The holders of the titles of national champions and the Romanian Cup, in IKU karate, also became world champions.
In the tournament held at the end of last week in Buenos Aires, Mihai Stanciu, Bogdan Hrițcu and Alexandru Schein confirmed their excellent results in the team kata, in a year 2024, in which they seem to have no opponents.
The boys achieved several other meritorious rankings in the individual events: Antonio Gheorghieș - 1st place in senior kumite, Alexandru Schein - 2nd places in kata rengokai and absolute kata, Mihai Stanciu - 3rd place in kata and Bogdan Hrițcu - 3rd places in kara rengokai and kumite (80kg).
For women, the CSU UVT team is world vice-champion in the kata event, composed of Ioana Popescu, Isabella Burz, Ana-Maria Bucșă. Ioana and Isabella also got a 2nd place in kumite sanbon and a 3rd place in rotary kumite. On an individual level, Ioana Popescu finished with gold in the senior kata and the absolute kata; Isabella Burz finished 3rd in the individual rengokai kata, and Ana-Maria Bucșă twice the 3rd place, in the senior kata and in the absolute kata.
