A new edition of the event series "World cultures at UVT. Let's evolve together!", an edition dedicated to Serbia, takes place right during this high holiday period, with a program that promises to deepen our community ties and emphasize the importance of academic and cultural diplomacy in the current global context.
Between January 10–12, 2026, Serbian culture can be discovered through two special events, which bring together tradition, music and dance:
- On Saturday, January 10, starting at 15:00 PM, in the Aula Magna UVT, a Serbian dance performance was held by the Mladost Ensemble (choreographer: Senadin Krstić), an explosion of rhythm and energy, an event moderated by Đurđina Kandić, lecturer of the Serbian language.
- On Monday, January 12, starting at 14:00 PM, in the A01 amphitheater, the show of customs and carols in the old rite will take place, an incursion into the winter traditions of Serbia, with special guests and stories about identity, customs and cultural heritage.
The guests of honor of this edition are the Consul of the Republic of Serbia in Timișoara, HE Ivana Jakšić Matović, and the President of the Union of Serbs in Romania, Mr. MP Jakšić Matović. The organizing team of the event includes Ms. Đurđina Kandić, lecturer of Serbian language at UVT, as well as Ms. Radoslava Glišović, a long-time collaborator from the Dositei Obradović High School.
Today, perhaps more than ever, understanding world cultures is becoming not just an academic endeavor, but also a tool of cultural diplomacy. And, because the West University of Timisoara is an institution dedicated not only to education, but also to the development of open, inclusive and global thinking, we are proud to host this event.
In a world fragmented by crises, cultural diplomacy represents one of the most subtle, yet most enduring forms of dialogue.
