French writers visiting the Francophone student literary circle

The Center for Romance Studies in Timișoara, affiliated with LIFT-UVT, organized, through the Francophone student literary circle "La Pléiade", three meetings with French writers of the French contemporary extreme: with Benjamin de LAFORCADE (in October 2024), with Éloïse COHEN DE TIMARY (in November 2024) and with Maruska LE MOING (in December 2024). These circle meetings were moderated by Dr. Velimir Mladenović, beneficiary of a postdoctoral research internship at the Doctoral School of Humanities of UVT, a scholarship coordinated by prof.univ.dr.habil. Ramona Malița.

The meetings with French writers (two autumn and one winter) allowed students to enter the backstage of the novel creation, especially, where the character sketches come to life, are progressively built. Organized in two parts, these meetings had an open format: in the first part, the moderator asked a series of pre-established questions to which the interlocutor answered in detail, with multiple details; the second part consisted of questions from the audience, from French-speaking students (from the bachelor's, master's and doctoral programs, coordinated by Dr. Claudiu Gherasim), members of the literary circle, eager to learn more about the way in which the writer's thinking interferes with reality, what exactly he keeps from everyday references, how much is imagination and, above all, in what way and to what extent the author inserts the biographical detail. In other words, how he manages it in such a way as to camouflage it as best as possible in his text.

Very lively and held in a relaxed atmosphere, these literary meetings were of great use to the Francophone students of the circle, who are initiated into the art of literary writing, but also into the analysis of the contemporary writing phenomenon. The literary spring will begin in the second semester of this academic year with other circle meetings in which authors will reveal aspects "from the unseen side of the moon" of their published or forthcoming literary work.
