Post-COVID-19 therapeutic recovery program, offered by UVT

Concerned with the aspect of social responsibility and participation in the collective effort to normalize life, UVT launches a therapeutic program with physical exercises, intended for those who are in the post-Covid-19 stage.

It is addressed to cured COVID-19 patients who have a referral issued by a specialist doctor, recommending respiratory and/or muscle recovery exercises.

The therapeutic program will include training sessions, with physical exercises coordinated by specialists from the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports, which will take place outdoors on the UVT sports fields, according to a calendar that will be announced to the registered participants. People who wish to participate in this therapeutic program and who have a medical referral, can register through this FORM.

The goal of post-COVID 19 rehabilitation aims to: reduce the risk of readmission, improve the quality of life of patients, eliminate/diminish the negative consequences: respiratory, musculoskeletal, neurological, cognitive, psycho-social determined by COVID-19, as well as rapid functional, social reinsertion and professional.

Depending on the clinical status and age, the therapeutic program can be individualized and personalized, based on the evaluation of the patients with the help of the multidisciplinary team: doctor, physiotherapist, physical education and sports teacher, psychologist.

  • Respiratory rehabilitation

Techniques such as relaxation, diaphragmatic breathing, directing air in the upper airways, respiratory clearance techniques, bronchial hygiene, lung expansion techniques (positive expiratory pressure), respiratory facilitation postures, respiratory muscle training can be individualized to patients.

Proposed activities: respiratory physiotherapy, incentive therapy

  • Respiratory gymnastics

Mobilizing and toning the respiratory muscles, techniques to improve muscle suppleness and joint mobility, improving body posture and awareness of correct posture, respiratory muscle training.

Proposed activities: respiratory gymnastics, stretching

  •  Exercise training

Significant improvement in fitness by optimizing cardio-vascular function, respiratory function, endurance, quality of life and reducing depression.

Proposed activities: athletic walking, cycling, jogging.

  • Muscle toning

Exercises to optimize daily activities: general and specific toning exercises, balance and coordination exercises.

Proposed activities: strength exercises, balance, coordination, recovery gymnastics.
