Pro-vaccination partnership between UVT and the "Doctor Victor Popescu" Military Emergency Clinical Hospital

West University of Timișoara and Military Emergency Clinical Hospital "Doctor Victor Popescu" signed this month a partnership agreement through which UVT students will support medical vaccination teams from the aforementioned military institution. Starting this week, teams of students and teaching staff from the Department of Social Assistance within the Faculty of Sociology and Psychology from UVT will carry out counseling activities on the ground and disseminate pro-vaccination information in the localities of Timiș County where they will be move the mobile vaccination teams from the Emergency Military Clinical Hospital "Doctor Victor Popescu".

In the global health crisis, the social worker is one of the specialists with the role of agent of change for individuals in the community, being a real partner of the citizens in the initiated change process. We believe that people living in rural communities do not always have easy access to objective information on short, medium and long-term protective measures against the SARS-COV-2 virus. One of the professional roles of the social worker is that of mobilizer, who encourages and stimulates people in the community to get vaccinated, capitalizing, in the given situation, on the opportunity offered by the mobile teams from the "Doctor Victor Popescu" Military Emergency Clinical Hospital.

Through these actions, the mission of social assistance students from UVT is to contribute to increasing the number of vaccinated people in the rural communities of Timiș County. As part of this approach, students will be trained to respect the Covid protection measures but also to show understanding, respect, empathy, availability to inform in an accessible manner, keeping the attitude of not judging the people with whom they will interact.

The campaign will be launched this weekend in the localities of Variaș, Sânpetru, Valcani, Dudeștii Vechi and Găvojdia, and will continue in the next six months, depending on the realities on the ground, in several of the rural communities in the county. The project will start on Friday, November 19, at 7.30:XNUMX a.m., by going to Variaș commune, where the minibus with students from UVT will accompany the convoy of medical personnel from the Doctor Victor Popescu Military Emergency Clinical Hospital.
