We are pleased to invite you on Thursday, February 5 2026, starting with at 19:00, at the Gallery with Plane Trees, Faculty of Arts and Design within West University of Timisoara (UVT ArtCenter, 4 Oituz Street), for the opening of the photography exhibition "Ordinary Moment"The event brings to Timișoara the works of 21 Iranian photographers, offering the public a rare and extremely personal foray into the everyday reality of contemporary Iran.
Far from stereotypes, the exhibition proposes a series of documentary images that capture the mundane, yet meaningful moments of life there. It is a visual dialogue between individual experiences and universal themes, constructed with sensitivity and authenticity by artists documenting their own culture.
The evening will begin with the screening of a documentary film dedicated to Jabbar Navid, a legendary figure in Iranian photography. Living for no less than 107 years, Navid left behind an impressive visual legacy, the film being a moving testimony about memory and the way photography manages to stop time.
The project is the result of close international collaboration, being realized through the collective effort of several partner institutions: University of Fine Arts in Hungary, FUGA Gallery and Faculty of Arts and Design at UVT, under the coordination of the dean, prof. dr. Diana Andreescu. The exhibition came to life thanks to the involvement of dedicated professionals, such as: prof. dr. Adriana Lucaciu, dr. István Erőss, Szilvia Mucsy, dr. Tünde Mariann Varga, dr. Balázs Kicsiny, dr. Judit Csanádi, Tekla Uszkay, Kristóf Asbót and Rita Somosi.
This connection between the Iranian and local space is also emphasized by lect. dr. Mădălin Mărienuț, who observes a surprising aesthetic affinity between the exhibited works and the directions explored by the students of the Photography specialization at our faculty in Timișoara. This “natural convergence” demonstrates that, at a visual and pedagogical level, the language of the image transcends any geographical border.
We are waiting for you!
