A new edition of the event "Science Wednesday with Mădălin Bunoiu and his guests" will take place on Wednesday, on the topic "Expedition and adventure - a journey in nature's laboratories". The guest of this meeting will be the beloved biologist and explorer Alexandru Stermin, who will take the public to remote and less known, but extremely interesting places.
The discussion will start from the following volumes:
Fallen from the jungle. Tales of an Explorer, Humanitas Publishing House, 2022
“Looking at the jungle, I entered a state that I had always intuited, that I had questioned in my mind countless times, but which, until then, I had not perceived so clearly and complexly. I felt his call! The call of the jungle did not come from the forest: it came from me. It was the call of the jungle in my being. But to get to the jungle inside me, I had to step into the one in front of me. I took, by virtue of this emotion, the first step in what was to be the adventure of my life and, perhaps, of my death." — ALEXANDRU N. STERMIN
Journey around man, Humanitas Publishing House, 2024nd edition, XNUMX
"If I wasn't Cătălin Gruia, I would have liked to be Alexandru Stermin. You will understand why I say this if you read the pages between these covers. I highly recommend you do it - you won't just discover a book, you'll discover yourself, you'll learn more about who we are, where we come from and where we're going." — CĂTĂLIN GRUIA, editor-in-chief of National Geographic
The look of the orangutan or About the animal in us, Humanitas Publishing House, first edition, 2024
This book, like the others written by Alexandru Stermin, is the story of a journey. Embarking, along with the narrator, on an adventure sparked by the sight of an orangutan in a zoo on the shores of the Baltic Sea, we reach far in time and space. We venture from the world of myth into the reality of the world's largest swamp, the Brazilian Pantanal. From exuberant Rio de Janeiro, we follow Darwin's footsteps to the fabulous Galápagos Islands. Along the way, we explore the intimacy of ourselves and other life, we dare to look into the eyes of the animal within us - just, just, we will find the answer to the question hidden in the wilderness of this book:
Do we have a life, or are we the Life?
