In 2025, we consolidate the position of UVT Art Center as a landmark for contemporary art in Timisoara.
Faculty of Arts and Design within West University of Timisoara organized the launch and presentation event of the exhibition program for 2025, which will take place in the "Plant Gallery" space within the UVT Art Center*. The event took place Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 12 noon, in the UVT Art Center gallery space (Oituz Street, near the Faculty of Arts and Design headquarters) and preceded the opening of the inaugural exhibition dedicated to the renowned sculptor Rudolf Kocsis**, professor at the Faculty of Arts and Design.
UVT Art Center / "Galeria cu Platani" has developed the exhibition strategy for 2025 in the spirit of academic performance and deep commitment to artistic innovation. The program is dedicated to promoting high-quality selection from the creation of teaching staff, doctoral students, students and alumni of the West University of Timișoara, highlighting the talent and vision of our academic community.
Moreover, the program aims to strengthen ties with the local, national and international art scene, becoming a true catalyst for cultural dialogue. By launching, for the end of the year, open calls addressed to curators and artists, UVT Art Center / "Galeria cu Platani" opens the doors to new collaborations, inviting both young creators and established artists to contribute to shaping a diverse and dynamic artistic landscape.
UVT rector, Marilen Gabriel Pirtea: "We want UVT Art Center to become an artistic hub that inspires the community, welcoming the public with a rich program of complementary activities. Each exhibition will be accompanied by guided tours, presentations, workshops and launches, which will facilitate the authentic connection between the exhibiting artists and the public. Through these initiatives, we continue the program "At UVT, Culture is the Capital!", offering visitors a unique cultural experience, through events dedicated to the community."

*UVT Art Center was inaugurated in May 2023, presenting to the Timișoara public, up to now, approximately 40 exhibitions accompanied by numerous complementary events. Starting with 2025, all the exhibition spaces of the Faculty of Arts and Design will operate under the umbrella of UVT Art Center: "Plant Gallery", "Attic Gallery" and the future Pinacotheca of the Western University, currently under construction.
**Exhibition "Dimensions" of prof. univ. dr. Rudolf Kocsis includes sculptures and drawings from the entire creative period of the artist. The concept and unique design of the exhibition were conceived by Bogdan Rață. The opening will take place on January 23, at 19 p.m.
"Rudolf Kocsis' sculpture has spiritual dimensions. His course proposes an approach to monumentality as an ensemble of proportions and the resonance with which they amplify space; the size of the sculpture does not relate to the metric system, length, width, height; volume is not an outline of physical limits; the size of the sculpture is relative. The perspective of Kocsis' sculpture is an aspatial one, defined by the ecstatic experience of art. Objects recall, anatomical fragments consume personal mythologies, matter is carved, space becomes polychrome. You can look inside these forms. The mirror absorbs the light, the object is the middle of the sculpture, the sculpture the center, the altar marks the space, man fixes its dimensions." – Bogdan Rata
