The national program for the installation of defibrillators in public spaces, dedicated to increasing public safety and improving intervention in emergency situations, was launched by the Romanian Red Cross and NEPI Rockcastle. The initiative aims to install semi-automatic external defibrillators in public spaces across the country, in order to reduce the reaction time in case of cardiopulmonary arrest. The main objective of the initiative is to save lives by reducing the intervention time in cases of cardiopulmonary arrest, where every minute is essential. Rapid access to a defibrillator can significantly increase the chances of survival until the arrival of specialized medical teams.

The program began in Bucharest and continued with the installation of defibrillators in other public, crowded spaces and areas with heavy traffic, with a total of 22 defibrillators scheduled to be installed in 18 localities, including Bucharest, Constanța, Pitești, Ploiești, Craiova, Sibiu, Drobeta Turnu-Severin, Buzău, Deva, Piatra Neamț, Vâlcea, Satu Mare, Târgu Jiu, Târgu Mureș, Timișoara, Galați and Brăila.
