Innovation in education at UVT: six new bachelor's programs and an attractive master's degree for the 2026 generation

Like every year, West University of Timișoara (UVT) "upgrades" the educational offer. For the 2026 admission sessions, UVT adds six new undergraduate university study programs – of which four are unique in Romania – and a master's degree program:

  • undergraduate university study program Digital Game Design – Art and Visual Effects (in English)– unique in the country;
  • undergraduate university study program Physiotherapy and special motor skills (in English);
  • double major bachelor's degree program Physical and Sports Education – Sports and Motor Performance – unique in the country;
  • dual specialization university teaching degree programs Chemistry – Biology, Geography – English Language and Literature and Physics – Chemistry - the last 2 unique ones in the country;
  • master's degree program Prevention, rehabilitation and recovery in sports.

Unique program in Romania, at FAD UVT

In recent years, Timișoara has become a regional hub for game development, animation and multimedia, and UVT directly responds to this evolution. Faculty of Arts and Design launches the undergraduate university studies program Digital Game Design – Art and Visual Effects (in English), an interdisciplinary program that combines visual art, 3D animation, interactive design, and software technologies.

It is a unique program in Romania, created for young people who want to design and implement high-level interactive digital products, leveraging both artistic creativity and the technical rigor necessary for contemporary industry. In addition, those who want to deepen the field can continue with the master's degree program. Game Art, already existing.

Teaching degree with double specialization – a premiere in the west of the country

UVT reconfirms its objective of supporting the development of pre-university education in Romania. Thus, it becomes the first university in the western region of the country to introduce three dual-specialization bachelor's degree programs in teaching (two of them unique at the national level), dedicated to training teachers for the pre-university education system:

  • Chemistry – Biology;
  • Physics – Chemistry;
  • Geography – English language and literature.

These programs, lasting 4 years, are created in collaboration with the relevant faculties and the Department for Teaching Staff Training (DPPD), being built on two modern paradigms – EBTE (Evidence-Based Teacher Education) and PBTE (Practice-BasedTeacher Education) -, to reduce the gap between theory and classroom reality, promoting student-centered pedagogical approaches, innovative teaching methods, and interdisciplinarity. Graduates can teach in pre-university education in either of the two areas of their specialization.

Three new programs for exercise enthusiasts at FEFS

For those interested in the field of physical education, recovery and sports performance, Faculty of Physical Education and Sport proposes three new and well-structured university study programs:

  • Physical and Sports Education – Sports and Motor Performance (university study program of license cu double major)

Program unique in Romania, with a duration of 4 years, it combines two specializations into one. Graduates can become both physical education and sports teachers in secondary education, as well as teacher-coaches in performance sports, acquiring the necessary skills to select and guide athletes, apply the curriculum specific to educational units with a sports profile, and coordinate activity within school or private sports clubs.

  • Physiotherapy and special motor skills (in English) (university study cycle of license)

This 3-year undergraduate degree program is aimed at training specialists in prevention, assessment and functional recovery. During the studies, students acquire knowledge in areas such as anatomy, biomechanics, physiology and pathology, as well as in the application of physiotherapy methods used in the prevention, treatment and recovery of musculoskeletal, neurological and postural disorders. At the same time, emphasis is also placed on the study of modern rehabilitation techniques, special motor skills and techniques, as well as evidence-based physiotherapy techniques.

  • Prevention, rehabilitation and recovery in sports (university study cycle of MASTERS)

Addressed primarily to graduates of undergraduate studies in the fields of physical education and sports, physiotherapy, medicine and psychology, but also to all those interested in developing advanced skills in preventing injuries, optimizing recovery after physical exertion and recovery from pathologies associated with practicing sports, this is a unique program in Romania, with a duration of 2 years, which offers graduates the opportunity to become specialist physiotherapists or sports physiotherapists.
