In 2025, the Faculty of Arts and Design of UVT celebrates 35 years since its re-establishment

The Faculty of Arts and Design at the West University of Timișoara took stock at the end of 2024, recording the remarkable achievements obtained in a period that significantly consolidated and expanded the impact of the institution, both nationally and internationally. The success of FAD projects was reflected in the implementation of over 180 extracurricular activities within the "80 years UVT" program, activities that brought together diverse communities and offered a fascinating and complete artistic experience.

In 2024, FAD activities were strategically structured, focusing on fundamental directions for the continuous development of the faculty. These included strengthening ties with the alumni community, strengthening institutional partnerships, implementing European projects, promoting educational innovation and internationalizing the academic process, increasing sustainability and amplifying technological transfer, as well as strengthening relations with the diaspora and the pre-university environment. Each of these initiatives has contributed decisively to strengthening the faculty's reputation in art education.

The year 2024 was also a remarkable success for FAD students, who obtained numerous awards and distinctions at national and international levels, highlighting the academic excellence and the special creativity of the faculty. Also, the teaching staff were recognized for their achievements, obtaining awards at prestigious events, such as the UVT Awards Gala, the Annual Visual Arts Salon – XCIV edition UAP Timișoara, the Annual Visual Arts Salon UAP Romania 2024 and others. Among the key events of the year were innovative competitions, such as “Pasaje” and “Student Challenge Innovation”, which stimulated creative thinking and promoted innovation among students.

The Faculty of Arts and Design within UVT continued to bring art closer to the general public through remarkable events, such as the podcast series, the granting of the title "Doctor Honoris Causa" to Mrs. Doina Lemny, guided tours, Open Day, the Exhibition of the Graphic Consortium of Romania, the Exhibition Graduates organized in five alternative spaces in Timișoara and the Fashion Gala. Also, numerous national and international exhibitions were held in collaboration with students and teachers from all specializations (painting, graphics, sculpture, decorative arts, fashion-clothing, conservation-restoration, photo-video, design), conferences, creative workshops and the flagship event "Design Connect", which brought together professionals and artists from the local and national community.

In the field of academic research, valuable works were published through the annuals "Caiete de Arte si Design", "Ateliere", "Retrospectiva si Chronici", "Galeria cu Plantani", promoting excellence and innovation in the artistic field. The doctoral symposia have had a significant impact on academic research, underscoring the faculty's commitment to the training of specialists.

A memorable project of 2024 was the "Cultural Tram", which became a symbol of cultural mobility, promoting the creations and activities of students, but also the community of the Western University of Timișoara as a whole. It drew national and international attention to the institution, publicly reflecting a dimension of direct involvement in community life.

The Timișoara School of Arts and Design has significantly advanced in the attention of the public and specialists from the country and abroad, both through attractive study programs for new generations of students, and through dozens of interactive projects carried out within the "80 Years UVT" program, through which creative energies have found confirmation in front of the public from the local community, or from a national and international perspective."
