The West University of Timișoara, through the Cu Platani Gallery | Art Center UVT, is pleased to announce its participation in the "White Night of Galleries (NAG) 2025", a traditional event that brings new artistic spaces, exhibitions and visual experiences to the attention of the general public.
During this year's edition, visitors are invited to discover the exhibition "SCROLL, WISH, REPEAT", winning project of the Open Call launched by Galeria Cu Platani, curated by Cristiana Ursache.
The exhibition curator emphasizes:
"We continue to exist in an illusion of necessity, exacerbated by the advertising industry and the algorithms of digital platforms that generate and maintain aesthetic aspirations that are increasingly difficult to separate from personal identity. The desire to consume thus becomes an endless cycle: SCROLL, DESIRE, REPEAT."
The exhibition brings into question how the excessive aestheticization of everyday objects and spaces – intensified by advertising and digital media – transforms products into aspirational symbols, fueling a visual culture of desire. In a critical, discursive and ironic key, the artists question the apparent freedom of personal choices and highlight how contemporary objects and images lose their functionality, becoming instruments of visibility and branding.
The artists exhibit: Dumitrița Gurău, Claudia Nicola Ungureanu, Daria Frozinschi, Lucreția Țîu and Teodora Prodan.
