West University of Timişoara (UVT), through Faculty of Music and Theater, organizes the 21st edition of the Chamber Music Festival between May 25 and June 15, 2026, an artistic and academic project dedicated to classical music, contemporary creation and the training of new generations of artists.
With a tradition of over two decades, the festival brings together university professors, guest artists, researchers, students and pupils in an extensive program of recitals, concerts, masterclasses, workshops and academic sessions, held in representative cultural spaces of Timișoara: the Orpheum Hall of the Faculty of Music and Theatre, the Baroque Hall of the National Museum of Art Timișoara, the Bastion of the National Museum of Banat and the independent space "it - a space for it".
The 2026 edition offers the public a diverse artistic journey, built around the European chamber repertoire, the German romantic lied, contemporary music and the dialogue between arts, education, research and stage performance.
The program includes the tribute recital "Musica In honorem", dedicated to the memory of professor Lava Bratu, Schubert and Schumann recitals coordinated by associate professor dr. habil. Matei Rogoz, chamber recitals held by students, teachers and pupils of the "Ion Vidu" Art High School, interdisciplinary projects, the scientific communications session "The artist's path to the show" dedicated to students.
An important component of the festival is dedicated to professional training, through the singing masterclass held by maestro Alfredo Pascu, the trombone masterclass coordinated by Alexandru Moraru, the workshop "Titling and Definitiveness: methodology, strategy and concrete steps towards success", held by lect. dr. Ion Negrilă, and the international workshop "Music Rights Lab for Artists and Composers", coordinated by Davide Grosso, representative of the International Music Council.
Through the diversity of repertoires and proposed formats, the Chamber Music Festival creates a platform for meeting between European musical tradition, contemporary creation, artistic research and performative education, contributing to strengthening the cultural profile of Timișoara and promoting the values of classical music in the Romanian and European artistic space.
The event is organized by the Faculty of Music and Theatre - UVT in collaboration with the "Ion Vidu" Art High School, the National Museum of Art Timișoara, the National Museum of Banat and CCMT - Center for Musical and Transdisciplinary Research, MY KOSMOS by card.
