The Faculty of Law of the West University of Timișoara awards its award winners. 2026 Edition

The results obtained by the students Faculty of Law within West University of Timisoara (UVT) in the national and international competitions organized in the 2025/2026 academic year are publicly marked through an event organized on Sunday, June 7, 2026, starting at 17 p.m., in the A01 Amphitheater of the West University of Timișoara (4 Vasile Pârvan Blvd.).

On this occasion, the students who participated in the 2026 edition will be awarded Hexagon of Law Faculties, a prestigious national competition organized annually between teams from the law faculties of the University of Bucharest, the "Babeș-Bolyai" University of Cluj-Napoca, the "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University of Iași, the "Lucian Blaga" University of Sibiu, the University of Craiova and the West University of Timișoara, with the participation of the State University of Moldova (Chișinău). The team of the Law Faculty of the West University of Timișoara came in third place in the overall ranking of the competition. At the same time, the Law Faculty of Timișoara came on the podium in all scientific tests: it obtained first place in the scientific test of Constitutional law, 3rd place in the scientific test Civil law and 3rd place in the scientific test Criminal law.

Also, the Faculty of Law from Timișoara obtained 1st place in the football competition and took 4th place in the table tennis competition, 5th place in the chess competition, and 6th place in the streetball competition. The team that represented the Faculty of Law from Timișoara at the 2026 edition of Hexagon of Law Faculties was made up of: Constitutional right – Casiana Anghel-Secăreș and Raul Ardelean, coordinated by Associate Professor Andreea Verteș-Olteanu; Civil law – Riana Miriam Ștefan and Radu Mihnea Nanciu, coordinated by Mr. Asst. Univ. Dr. Maximilian-Andrei Druță; Criminal law – Christian Cseke-Kreppel and David Görbe-Birta, coordinated by Ms. Asst. Univ. Dr. Cristina Nicorici; football – Alexandru Gabriel Andrei-Filip, Teodor Catană, Alexandru Custuriu, Antonio Ionașcu, Florin-Vasile Olariu, David Oprișan, Andrei Savca, Alexandru Sorin Trifa, Bogdan Velcelean, coordinated by Mr. Assoc. Univ. Dr. Gabriel Bîzoi; streetball – Gloria Faur, Iasmina Gheteș, Dariana Heiuș, Diana Melian, Viviana Alisia Țirban, coordinated by Mr. Paul Zamcu; table tennis – Dorina Cacean; chess – Damian Barbaros.

The results obtained by the Faculty of Law in Timișoara are part of the constantly positive line of participation in The Hexagon of Law Faculties, the faculty being on the podium in the overall ranking of the competition in each of the last 13 years, except for the 2014 edition: 2nd place in 2013, 2nd place in 2015, 3rd place in 2016, 3rd place in 2017, 2nd place in 2018, 1st place in 2019, 3rd place in 2021 (after the suspended competition resumes in 2020), 1st place in 2022, 3rd place in 2023, 3rd place in 2024, 3rd place in 2025.

On the same occasion, the students who participated in the international competitions of mock trials in European Union law, public international law and human rights will be awarded. Thus, the students participating in the final stage will be awarded Central and Eastern European Moot Competition, prestigious student scientific competition under European Union law, organized by Juris Angliae Scientia – British Law Centre, in cooperation with the Court of Justice of the European Union, with the support of other European Union institutions, the Centre for European Legal Studies at the University of Cambridge and Clifford Chance. The team of the Faculty of Law of Timișoara, consisting of Anastasia Prodius (a fourth-year student in the Bachelor's degree program in Law), Andrei Han and Tudor Savu (third-year students in the Bachelor's degree program in European and International Law), qualified – for the first time for the faculty – in the final of the competition and took second place in the overall ranking. The training of the team of the Faculty of Law of Timișoara was coordinated by Ms. Prof. Dr. Raluca Bercea, Ms. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sorina Doroga and Ms. Asst. Prof. Dr. Bianca Șerb, a former participant and winner of an individual pleading award at this European competition.

Students who participated in the national round of the competition will also be awarded. Telders International Law Moot Court Competition, the most prestigious student competition in Europe on public international law, organized by the Grotius Centre for International Legal Studies and Leiden University (Netherlands). The team of the Faculty of Law of Timișoara, composed of Patrick Dehelean, Flavia Fironda and Evelyn Urucu (third year students of the Bachelor of Laws program), took third place in the national round. The team was trained by Ms. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sorina Doroga and Ms. Dr. Alexandra Burdulea, a former participant and winner of an award for the best memoir in this international competition.

Last but not least, students participating this week in Strasbourg (France) at the final stage of the competition will be awarded. European Human Rights Moot Court Competition – Helga Pedersen, a prestigious student human rights competition, organized by ELSA International in cooperation with the Council of Europe, the European Court of Human Rights and the European Human Rights Association. The team of the Faculty of Law of Timișoara is composed of Ana Marina Ardelean and Daria Răulea (3rd year of the bachelor's degree program in European and International Law) and Iarina Modol (4th year of the bachelor's degree program in Law). During the international regional round, held in Athens (Greece) and following which the team qualified for the final stage, Ana Marina Ardelean obtained the highest score for the combined pleadings and the award for the best pleading (Best Oralist Award)The training of the team of the Faculty of Law in Timișoara was coordinated by Ms. Prof. Dr. Raluca Bercea and Ms. Dr. Bianca Andreea Iaici (counsel), former participant in the final rounds of this European competition.

The results obtained by the Faculty of Law of the Western University of Timișoara are part of the upward trend of participation in national and international student competitions in recent years. The Faculty of Law in Timișoara thanks its students and the professors who coordinated their training, for their contribution to promoting the image of the law school in Timișoara, as well as the institutional partners who support the performances of the young lawyers in Timișoara.
