The Faculty of Law from Timișoara awards its winners. 2024 edition

The results obtained by the students of the Faculty of Law of the Western University of Timișoara in the national and international competitions organized in the academic year 2023/2024 are publicly marked through an event organized on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, starting at 17 p.m., in the A01 Amphitheater of the University from West Timișoara, Bd. Vasile Pârvan no. 4.

On this occasion, the students who participated in the 2024 edition will be awarded Hexagon of Law Faculties, prestigious national competition organized annually between the teams of the law faculties of the University of Bucharest, "Babeș-Bolyai" University Cluj-Napoca, "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University Iași, "Lucian Blaga" University Sibiu, University of Craiova and West University of Timișoara , with the participation of the State University of Moldova (Chisinau) as a special guest. This year's edition of the competition included 3 scientific tests (Civil Law, Criminal Law, Constitutional Law) and 4 sports tests (football, streetball, table tennis and chess). The team of the Faculty of Law from Timișoara placed 2rd in the general ranking of the competition. At the same time, the Faculty of Law from Timișoara obtained first place in 7 of the 2 tests of the competition: the scientific test of Civil Law and the sports test of chess. Also, the Faculty of Law from Timișoara took second place in 2024 other tests of the competition: the scientific test of constitutional law and the sports test of football. Faculty teams took XNUMXth place in the scientific tests of Criminal Law and in the sports tests of streetball and table tennis. The team that represented the Faculty of Law from Timișoara at the XNUMX edition of the Hexagon of Law Faculties was made up of: Civil Law – Bianca-Nicoleta Mănoiu and Tudor Mihai Frațilă, coordinated by Mr. asist.univ.dr. Maximilian-Andrei Druță et al. Sergiu Căileanu; Constitutional law – Oana Alina Tutunaru and Mihai Onea, coordinated by Ms. conf. univ. dr. Andreea Verteș-Olteanu; Criminal law – Vlad Cristian Borcescu and Octavian Ciorba, coordinated by the assistant professors. Cristina Nicorici and Dr. Ionela Bleahu; football – Robert Bufanu, Paul Burnaz, Denis Gheorghe, Antonio Ionașcu, Daniel Jivi, Sergiu Petruse, Andrei Savca, Alexandru Trifa, Paul Zamcu, coordinated by Mr. Prof. Gabriel Bîzoi; streetball – Briana Ciurescu, Anisia Doris David, Anișoara Gaborean, Valentina Denisa Rusu, Georgiana Strachinariu; table tennis – Alexandru Dumitru; chess – Paul Paraschiv. Teaching staff of the competitive subjects and doctoral students of the faculty also contributed to the preparation of the teams.

On the same occasion, the students who participated in the international competitions of mock trials in European Union law, public international law and human rights will be awarded. Thus, the students participating in the final stage will be awarded Central and Eastern European Moot Competition, prestigious student scientific competition under European Union law, organized by Juris Angliae Scientia – British Law Centre, in cooperation with the Court of Justice of the European Union, with the support of other institutions of the European Union, the Center for European Legal Studies at Cambridge University and Clifford Chance. The Timișoara Faculty of Law team, made up of Horea Ardelean, Melisa Cheșpi, Carla Pervu-Milostean and Maria Curbet, won the Award for the best written pleadings in the competition (Best Written Memorials). At the same time, Miss Carla Pervu-Milostean obtained an individual pleading award. The preparation of the Timișoara Faculty of Law team was coordinated by Prof. Raluca Bercea, vice-dean lect.univ.dr. Sorina Doroga and Miss assistant drd. Bianca Șerb, former participant and winner of an individual pleading award in this competition.

Students who participated in will also be awarded European Human Rights Moot Court Competition – Helga Pedersen, prestigious student competition on human rights, organized by ELSA International in cooperation with the Council of Europe, the European Court of Human Rights and the European Human Rights Association. This year, the competition brought together a total of 68 teams representing European universities. The Timișoara Faculty of Law team, composed of Bianca Iaici, Dara Nestorovici, Ana-Maria Petcu and Marin Ugnenco, won the regional international round in St. Gallen (Switzerland) and qualified for the final stage of the competition, which took place in Strasbourg, at the headquarters of the European Court of Human Rights. The preparation of the Timișoara Faculty of Law team was coordinated by Prof. Raluca Bercea and Miss drd. Diana Fofiu, former participant in international pleading competitions.

Last but not least, the students who participated in the international round will be awarded Telders International Law Moot Court Competition, the most prestigious student competition in Europe on topics of public international law, organized by Grotius Center for International Legal Studies and Leiden University (Netherlands). The team of the Faculty of Law from Timișoara, composed of Marius Braguța, Iarina Modol, Cătălina Pînzaru and Anastasia Prodius, was coordinated by Mrs. vice dean lect. university dr. Sorina Doroga, miss drd. Alexandra Burdulea and Miss Dr. Andra Cenan-Glăvan, former participant in international pleading competitions.

At the same time, the event will be attended by students of the Faculty of Law of the West University of Timișoara who have participated in other national competitions this year.

The awards are offered to students by the Western University of Timișoara and the faculty's institutional partners.

The results obtained by the Faculty of Law of the Western University of Timișoara are part of the upward trend of participation in national and international student competitions in recent years. The Faculty of Law in Timișoara thanks its students and the professors who coordinated their training, for their contribution to promoting the image of the law school in Timișoara, as well as the institutional partners who support the performances of the young lawyers in Timișoara.
