The Faculty of Law of the University of Turdața awards its award winners

The results obtained by the students of the Faculty of Law of the West University of Timișoara (UVT) in the national and international competitions organized in the 2024/2025 academic year will be publicly marked through an event organized Tuesday, July 1, 2025, starting at 17 p.m., in the A01 Amphitheater of the West University of Timișoara, Bd. Vasile Pârvan no. 4.

On this occasion, the students who participated in the 2025 edition will be awarded Hexagon of Law Faculties, a prestigious national competition organized annually between the teams of the law faculties of the University of Bucharest, the "Babeș-Bolyai" University of Cluj-Napoca, the "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University of Iași, the "Lucian Blaga" University of Sibiu, the University of Craiova and the West University of Timișoara, with the participation of the State University of Moldova (Chișinău) as a special guest. This year's edition of the competition included three scientific tests (Civil Law, Criminal Law, Constitutional Law) and four sports tests (football, streetball, table tennis and chess). The team of the Faculty of Law of the West University of Timișoara came in third place in the overall ranking of the competition. At the same time, the Faculty of Law of Timișoara obtained first place in the scientific test of Constitutional Law, second place in the sports tests of football and chess, as well as third place in the scientific test of Civil Law. The faculty teams took 2025th place in the scientific competition of Criminal Law and in the sports competitions of streetball and table tennis. The team that represented the Faculty of Law in Timișoara at the XNUMX edition of Hexagon of Law Faculties was made up of:

  • Constitutional Law – Oana Alina Tutunaru and David Görbe-Birta, coordinated by Associate Professor Andreea Verteș-Olteanu;
  • Civil law – Patrick Burya and Eusebiu Jiurjiu, coordinated by Mr. Maximilian-Andrei Druță;
  • Criminal law – Christian Cseke-Kreppel and Fabian Luca, coordinated by Ms. Assistant Professor Cristina Nicorici;
  • football – Andrei Avrămuț, Paul Burnaz, Alexandru Custuriu, Denis Gheorghe, Antonio Ionașcu, Florin-Vasile Olariu, David Oprișan, Andrei Savca, Paul Zamcu, coordinated by Mr. Associate Professor Dr. Gabriel Bîzoi;
  • streetball – Gloria Faur, Iasmina Gheteș, Dariana Heiuș, Diana Melian, Raluca Miclău;
  • table tennis – Dorina Cacean;
  • chess – Paul-Alexandru Paraschiv.

The results obtained by the Faculty of Law in Timișoara are part of the consistently positive line of participation in the Hexagon of Law Faculties, the faculty being on the podium in the general ranking of the competition in each of the last 13 years, except for the 2014 edition: 2013nd place in 2015, 2016nd place in 2017, 2018rd place in 2019, 2021rd place in 2020, 2022nd place in 2023, 2024st place in XNUMX, XNUMXrd place in XNUMX (after the suspended competition resumes in XNUMX), XNUMXst place in XNUMX, XNUMXrd place in XNUMX, XNUMXrd place in XNUMX.

On the same occasion, the students who participated in the international competitions of mock trials in European Union law, public international law and human rights will be awarded. Thus, the students participating in the final stage will be awarded Central and Eastern European Moot Competition, prestigious student scientific competition under European Union law, organized by Juris Angliae Scientia – British Law Centre, in cooperation with the Court of Justice of the European Union, with the support of other European Union institutions, the Centre for European Legal Studies at the University of Cambridge and Clifford Chance. The team of the Faculty of Law of Timișoara, consisting of Iarina Modol (third year student), Dara Nestorovici, Anamaria Petcu and Cătălina Pînzaru (fourth year students), qualified for the semi-final round of the competition and obtained 5th place in the general ranking, continuing the series of performances of the teams that represented the faculty in previous editions. The training of the team of the Faculty of Law of Timișoara was coordinated by Ms. Prof. Dr. Raluca Bercea, Ms. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sorina Doroga and Ms. Dr. Bianca Șerb, a former participant and winner of an individual pleading award at this competition.

Students who participated in will also be awarded European Human Rights Moot Court Competition – Helga Pedersen, a prestigious student human rights competition, organized by ELSA International in cooperation with the Council of Europe, the European Court of Human Rights and the European Human Rights Association. The team of the Faculty of Law of Timișoara was formed by Anastasia Prodius, Mihaela Daia, Horea Ardelean, students in the 3rd and 4th years, and accompanied by Ms. Bianca Iaici, master's student (counsel). The team was coordinated by Prof. Dr. Raluca Bercea and Ms. Dr. Diana Fofiu.

Last but not least, the students who participated in the international round will be awarded Telders International Law Moot Court Competition, the most prestigious student competition in Europe on public international law, organized by the Grotius Centre for International Legal Studies and Leiden University (Netherlands). The team from the Faculty of Law in Timișoara was composed of Andrei Han, Radu Nanciu, Ștefan Praja-Dolici (second-year students in the International and European Law program) and Alexandra Schieszer (second-year student in the Law program). Student Radu Nanciu took second place in the general ranking of the litigants, obtaining the prize Best Oralist Award – Runner UpThe team's training was provided by Ms. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sorina Doroga, Ms. Dr. Andra Cenan-Glăvan and Mr. Marin Ugnenco, master's student (counsel), former participants in international pleading competitions.

At the same time, the event will be attended by students of the Faculty of Law of the West University of Timisoara who participated in other national competitions this year. The awards are offered to the students by the West University of Timisoara and the institutional partners of the faculty.
