The Faculty of Arts and Design within West University of Timisoara (UVT) announces the launch of the sixth edition of the INTERDESIGN Biennial, an international platform that brings together innovation, experimentation and interdisciplinary dialogue. The event will take place from May 5 to 20, 2026, offering the community a courageous perspective on how design can shape the future.
Established over the years as an essential space for reflection, INTERDESIGN 2026 challenges the barriers between theory and practice. This year's edition focuses on bridging the gap between concept and actual implementation, transforming design from an aesthetic formula into a living, negotiated and evolving process.
Under the theme "Beyond Boundaries", the biennial proposes an exploration of design in an era of accelerated change. It is an invitation to merge sustainability, technology and creative experimentation within a culturally reinvested historical space, all with the aim of redefining the aesthetics of the future and its impact on the built environment.
"INTERDESIGN is more than an exhibition; it is a collective project through which we invite designers, artists and researchers to contribute directly to the transformation of public space. We believe in design that becomes useful to the community, that is why the exhibition is conceived as a laboratory of practice and experiment, where the artists' interventions become visible landmarks for the city", declares Prof. Dr. Diana Andreescu, dean of the Faculty of Arts and Design at UVT.
