Through the projects and events carried out, the Western University of Timișoara assumes the position of the epicenter of the generation and promotion of cultural initiatives and projects, in the perspective of the year "Timișoara 2023 - European Capital of Culture". Under generic "At UVT, Culture is Capital!", the academic community from UVT supports conferences, performances, debates, book launches and film screenings, multimedia productions and contemporary art and creation programs, promoted in Timișoara and internationally.
In this series, we invite you to participate on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, starting at 12:00, at the opening of a documentary exhibition dedicated to the Timișoara poet and dissident Ion Monoran (1953-1993). During the event, the writer Viorel Marineasa and the academic Marcel Tolcea will have interventions.
A reference name for the 1989s generation, Ion Monoran was an active member of the "Pavel Dan" literary club of the Student Culture House in Timișoara and founder of the Timișoara Cotidian and the Timișoara Society, also a participant, as a leader, in the December 1976 Revolution. He made his literary debut in XNUMX, with poems, in the magazine "Forum studențesc" and later collaborated regularly in magazines such as "Orizont", "Amfiteatru", "Echinox", "Luceafărul".
The exhibition, created at the initiative of the publicist Marcel Tolcea, is intended as a tribute to the Banat poet, a symbol for the beginnings of the 1989 Revolution, and brings to the public's attention articles from the press, manuscripts and photos of the poet from the collection of Oanai Monoran, the revolutionary's daughter. During the event, the writer Viorel Marineasa and the academic Marcel Tolcea will have interventions.
The exhibition can be visited until February 28, 2022, in the lobby in front of the Aula Magna, and access will take place according to the health regulations in force (green pass).
