Special edition of the concert performed in Rome, on the occasion of Romania's National Day, by the flute quartet of the Faculty of Music and Theater

The flute quartet of the Faculty of Music and Theater of the Western University of Timișoara honors the invitation received from the Embassy of Romania in addition to the Holy See and the Sovereign Order of Malta, supporting a new edition of the special concert held in Rome, dedicated to the National Day of Romania, which will take place today, December 18, 2024, at the Pontifical College Pio Romeno in Rome.

The program of the show includes:

  • Johann Sebastian Bach – Andante from Concerto in A minor for violin and orchestra (transcription for flute quartet);
  • Krzysztof Zgraja – "Soul-Menuette & Rock-Badinerie";
  • Georg Friedrich Händel – “Lascia ch'io pianga”;
  • Tiberiu Brediceanu – 3 Romanian Dances;
  • Derek Charke - "Raga 7".

Guests of honor are expected to attend the event, including representatives of the Vatican State, members of the diplomatic corps and academia in Rome, businessmen, journalists, as well as members of the UVT community.

The event is part of the series opened by the inaugural concert offered by UVT in Italy, held in 2021, in the prestigious location Rome - Auditorium Parco della Musica, included in the well-known series of productions with the generic "At UVT, Culture is the Capital!", when the maestro violinist Alexandru Tomescu, to whom the Romanian state entrusted a Stradivarius violin, performed a remarkable repertoire with the Orchestra of the Faculty of Music and Theatre, under the baton of conductor Sebastian The slice.

Romanian Flute Ensemble, founded on the initiative of teacher and soloist Matei Ioachimescu, is an ensemble with a composition that varies from 4 to 8 young autistic people, in an original instrumental formula: a mini orchestra that brings together the whole family of modern flutes, from to the bass car on the piculina. The members of the Romanian Flute Ensemble – Riana Savu, Romina Onișor, Tabea Bebeșelea and Eduard Miclea are students of the Western University in Timișoara and represent the new Romanian wave of exceptional autists, aligned to Western European standards of interpretation and thinking. Romanian Flute Ensemble managed in a very short time to attract the attention of the public in Romania and abroad, through the high artistic level and contagious enthusiasm with which it presents various programs, from baroque music to first auditions of contemporary Romanian composers. In 2023, The Romanian Flute Ensemble was invited to perform a concert in Rome, on the famous Conservatorio Santa Cecilia stage, and is known to the Romanian public thanks to the inSuu and ICONS national tours.
