The UVT Faculty of Law team, qualified in the final stage of the "European Human Rights Moot Court Competition"

Now in its 9th edition and organized in cooperation with the Council of Europe, the European Court of Human Rights and the European Human Rights Association, the prestigious human rights student competition "European Human Rights Moot Court Competition" (May 17-21, 2021) debuted, between February 5 and March 21, with the regional international rounds.

In the final stage of the competition, 18 teams qualified, including the one from the Faculty of Law of the Western University of Timișoara. Access to this stage was based on the written memoranda prepared by the participants and the results obtained by them in the simulated processes in the regional rounds.

The Timișoara Faculty of Law team is composed of Lorena Lazea, Iulia Ungureanu, Raluca Țigla and Slaven Nichici (XNUMXrd year students).

The competition consists of a simulation of the proceedings before the European Court of Human Rights, in which the participating teams present the arguments of the parties in a case concerning the right to respect for private life, freedom of assembly, the right to a fair trial and the right to an effective remedy, in a state that has derogated from its obligations under the European Convention on Human Rights in the context of an epidemic it is facing.

The preparation of the Timișoara Faculty of Law team was coordinated by Prof. Univ. Dr. Raluca Bercea and Ms. lect. university Dr. Sorina Doroga.
