Data that tells stories. ConnecTM – digital art and data science exhibition, at Bastion 1, a project of the Faculty of Governance and Communication Sciences of UVT

In the heart of Timișoara, the exhibition ConnectTM (Connect Me) opens doors to the universe of digital art derived from statistical analysis. Digital Media students' projects, carried out at Faculty of Government and Communication Sciences of the West University of Timișoara (UVT), become bridges between science and imagination, within the gallery at Bastion 1 (1 Hector Street, Timișoara).

The exhibition is part of the new cultural program HABITAT, launched by a consortium of independent cultural organizations, coordinated by LAPSUS, following a competition organized by the Timișoara Project Center. HABITAT transforms Bastion 1 into an active cultural hub, where education, art and community meet through exhibitions, workshops and meaningful meetings.

What will you discover at ConnecTM?

The exhibition brings together over 20 visual projects based on real data analysis, exploring current and diverse themes, organized into 5 categories: Society and Urban Infrastructure, Entertainment and Pop Culture, Digital Industries and Technologies, Film and Creative Industries, Identity and Support Systems.

You will discover new things about water quality in Timișoara, public institution spending, the TM2023 cultural infrastructure, character networks from Squid Game, Total Drama Island, God of War or Genshin Impact, collaborations between Romanian YouTubers, digital propaganda, the Romanian film production ecosystem in the last 10 years and much more.

The exhibition also presents the project "Who supports you after coming out? Anatomy of LGBTQIA+ support systems in Timișoara", a series of visual and narrative stories from the community.

The activity is organized in partnership with the Municipality of Timișoara, through the Project Center.
