We are honored to announce the opening of the exhibition "If it weren't for it, I wouldn't tell you", a project dedicated to graphics and book illustration, created by students of the Graphics specialization at Faculty of Arts and Design of the West University of Timișoara. The opening will take place on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 18:00 PM, at Gallery L, Baroque Palace, Unirii Square no. 1, Timișoara. The exhibition remains open to the public until October 26, 2025.

The event brings together the creations of young artists Matei Butoi, Antonia Burchiu, Sânziana Deleanu, Ida Gavra, Ancuța Iute, Andreea Megyes, Gabriella Nagy, Bogdan Neo, Emilia Olariu, Alexia Oancea, Natalia Păun, Bianca Rădulescu, Elena Șofalvi, Maria Trinca and Bianca Tulea, coordinated by professors Prof. Univ. Dr. Adriana Lucaciu, Prof. Univ. Dr. Vică Adorian, Lector Univ. Dr. Laura Duduleanu, Asst. Univ. Dr. Bogdan Matei, Asst. Assoc. Dr. Bianca Tulea and Asst. Assoc. Drd. Andrei Neciu.

The exhibited works – graphics, book illustrations and mixed media – give shape to a universe in which the sensitivity and freshness of the young artists’ vision meet with reflection on the role of art in a constantly changing world. The exhibition is part of the “Graphic Season at MNArT” program, which aims to strengthen the platform of support and visibility for recent and contemporary art, in the good tradition of the Timisoara art scene.

At a time when the utility, performance and creativity of book graphics seem weakened by the advance of artificial intelligence, the exhibition brings to the forefront the beauty of hand drawing, watercolor, ink and paper – seemingly fragile media, but capable of transmitting the subtle force of the visual story. For life would be incomprehensible without stories, without their edifying power and without the voices that speak them, like an echo of understanding, inspiration and dreaming.

"If it weren't for it, I wouldn't tell you" is a gesture of cultural continuity and affirmation of the connection between the written story and the drawn form. The event is organized by the National Museum of Art Timișoara in partnership with the Faculty of Arts and Design of the West University of Timișoara and supported by the Timiș County Council.
