The Western University of Timișoara, through the Faculty of Letters, History and Theology, offers Ukrainian citizens refugees in Romania an intensive Romanian language learning program for free, so that the participants have the opportunity to start or continue their studies in Romanian higher education studies in Romania. This course runs over 14 weeks, with eight course modules each week and complementary hours of individual study, so that at the end of this program, students will reach the B1 language proficiency level. At the end of this program, they will have the opportunity to be evaluated within the Faculty of Letters, History and Theology, through a test of linguistic competence in Romanian.
The intensive course has already reached its fourth week, the classes are conducted in a hybrid format, with some of the students being present in the classroom and others being connected online on the Google Meet platform. In the first weeks, the courses were supported by three teaching staff from the Romanian Language and Preparatory Year Group from the Department of Romanian Studies of the Faculty of Letters, History and Theology: assistant. Dr. Eliana Coman, assistant. Dr. Irina Dincă and assistant. Dr. Cristina Sicoe, following that in the coming weeks other colleagues of theirs will be involved: Prof. Dr. Gabriel Bărdășan, Prof. Dr. Bogdan Ţara, lect. Dr. Nadia Obrocea and lect. Dr. Ana-Maria Radu-Pop. Students who constantly attend classes are receptive and make progress in acquiring the Romanian language.
