The partnership between the Faculty of Arts and Design of the West University of Timisoara (UVT) and the municipality of Mericourt, France, materialized this summer through an exhibition opened by students of the Sculpture department of the Faculty of Arts and Design UVT, artists invited to install monumental works in the new International Sculpture Park from Mericourt, France – a space dedicated to contemporary art and European cultural dialogue.
Located in the ecological Arboretum – La Gare neighborhood in Mericourt, the park is the result of a long-term partnership between the West University of Timisoara and the Mericourt City Hall, a project that will be carried out over a period of several years, thanks to which students of the faculty will have a welcome field of expression, a space for exhibition and creation in this international artistic environment.
An extension of this project is the artistic insertion on Allende Boulevard in Mericourt. Here a special artistic identity is developed, by hosting the monumental works of Romanian creators from UVT: lect.univ.dr. Dan Vișovan and drd. Toma Libotyan, supported by the guidance of prof.univ.dr. Cristian Sida, the visual artist who is the artistic referent of the project.
