International Conference on Long-Term Foreign Languages, Bratislava, November 5-7, 2025

Between November 5 and 7, 2025, students of the Spanish Language Department of the Faculty of Letters, History, Philosophy and Theology of UVT, from the LL and Applied Modern Languages Specializations, from the 2nd and 3rd years, participated in International Conference on Foreign Languages Over Time hosted by the Faculty of Modern Applied Languages of the University of Economic Sciences in Bratislava.

Although the conference reached its 15th edition this year, it was only the first year in which the Spanish Language organized a separate section, joining the series of meetings dedicated to Spanish students and teachers organized within the program. Central European Exchange Program for University Studies (CEEPUS).

Among the approximately 60 students coming from 8 Central European countries and the Western Balkans, from 10 university centers, 10 of our students, accompanied by their coordinators, Dr. Sarah Malekshahian and Dr. Darius Dragomir, also presented their papers.

In the tradition of CEEPUS conferences dedicated to Hispanic studies that aim to take student meetings beyond the classic debate topics, UVT students proposed a series of presentations, individual and group, that associated musical, cultural, political, but also linguistic and grammatical themes, bringing a fresh and original vibe.

Concha Buika: Rhythms and idiomatic expressions from both sides of the Atlantic (Andrada Ivășcanu, Elena Antonia Potcovariu), Sexism and discrimination in Spanish proverbs (Adelina Winkler, Maya Cionte, Esther Aurora Cosma), Bad Bunny's White Chair: Symbolism and Influences in the Album "Debí tirar más fotos" (Mina Golubović), Bilingualism and diglossia in Spain and Romania (Manuela Buta, Monica Popescu, Georgiana Popa, Andrea Dragalina).

The conference was a good opportunity for our students to practice their skills in a real context, but also a way to see their passion and efforts rewarded.
