The Western University of Timișoara is constantly launching new academic and research projects, which are designed in an online format, adapted to pandemic conditions.
This time, the Faculty of Music and Theater offers high school students two interpretation contests, which will be held online or remotely.
National Competition "Traditional Music - Instrumental and Vocal Interpretation, which will take place between 12-16.04.2021, is in its first edition, being dedicated to students from vocational high schools, grades XI and XII (Vocational High School, High School with human profile, Popular Arts School).
The open categories for the competition are:
- Folk song - traditional music
- Instrumental performance
- Bowed stringed instruments – violin, bows, double bass
- Stringed instruments – tambourine
- Brass, woodwind instruments with reed, traditional with plug, snare, bagpipes
- Keyboard instruments: solo accordion
Candidates are invited to apply by sending the registration and application form to the email address concursmuzicatraditionala@e-uvt.ro, with the observation that the filming of the candidate must take place with a popular costume from the area of origin. The registration deadline is 8.04.2021/XNUMX/XNUMX.
The competition is organized by the Faculty of Music and Theater of the Western University of Timișoara, in partnership with the Banatian Culture Association and with the support of SoundCreation. All details are available on the page https://fmt.uvt.ro/concurs-muzica-traditionala/ .
The second one is "inSuflu" National Flute Competition, which is also addressed to high school students and is structured into two categories: Category A (grades XI-XII) and Category B (grades IX-X). To participate, competitors are invited to send a recording of the required repertoire for each category, by transfer, to the address concursinsuflu@e-uvt.ro, until 5.03.2021.
The jury, made up of personalities with international recognition, will appreciate the solid knowledge of the musical text, artistic maturity, technical and sound qualities of each candidate and will award the prizes according to these criteria.
