The good, the bad and the manipulated. Fake news and propaganda on social networks

We live in a world where fake news travels faster than the truth, and algorithms shape our perceptions without us even realizing it. Who are the "good guys", the "bad guys", and the "manipulated guys" in this whole story?

Radu Paraschivescu and Marian Voicu invite us to seek an answer to this question, in the form of a lucid and provocative conversation about fake news, propaganda, and the mechanisms of online manipulation.

Who are our guests:

Radu Paraschivescu – prose writer, translator, journalist and book editor. Since 2003, he has been an editor at Humanitas Publishing House. Since November 2008, Radu Paraschivescu has been speaking on RFI Romania in the show “După vorbă, după sport”. From 2014 to 2019, he presented two shows on the Digi 24 television channel: “Dă-te la o carte” and “Pastila de lingău”. He has translated over 120 books by foreign authors and published over 30 volumes.

Marian Voicu – journalist, documentary filmmaker and non-fiction writer. He has been working at TVR since 1996 as a reporter, news presenter, talk show host and producer. Since 2020, he has been producing and presenting on TVR1 “Breaking Fake News!”, the only show in the Romanian audiovisual space that documents the phenomenon of disinformation.

We invite you to discover how propaganda works in the age of social media, what role humor, irony, and critical spirit play in combating manipulation, and how we can distinguish truth in a constant flow of opinions and emotions.

Moderator: Melania Cincea, journalist. She has been part of the editorial staff of the Timișoara newspaper Timpolis since 1995 and is the founder of the website www.putereaacincea.ro.
